We hired Nationwide Moving & Storage to do a full service packing and storing our furniture move. They came on July 12, 2014 to Chesterfield, Va where the move originated. The minute they got to the house, the 3 guys that came to do the move, started complaining to me that we had "too much stuff." I think that is when the attitude started and they were completely careless from then on. They proceeded to pack our things and take them away within 2 days.
We then had them stored in a unit, that was supposed to be in Miami, but since found out that they took our items first to NJ for 3 months or so, then transferred to Miami, Fl about a month before our delivery. That is when the true nightmare began. The delivery took place on Saturday, Nov 29. 2014. First, nothing was labeled on which room the various boxes went into. So they came in with boxes and we had no idea where to tell them where they went. So they put most things in the garage. They were supposed to set up beds, remember this was a full service move, including them packing and labeling and delivering and setting up the main items.
Not only did we pay 7,500.00 to them for this service and also were quoted lower on the phone but due to having so much stuff, they increased the price supposedly, but they did not follow through on their end of the deal to do what they said they were going to do. Most of my furniture had some sort of damage in one way or another. Valuable antiques and glassware from my grandparents, over 50 years old, was damaged and they are missing a piece of my antique couch that can not be replaced if never found. I had contacted them on this on Monday , Dec 1 and still they are trying to "locate" the item.
They packed so shoddy that they put glass in the bottom of boxes and shoved other heavier items on top of it so therefore, that resulted in much damage and breakage. They did not even bother packing some glass items, just left them laying on the top of other packed items and the packing was done in thin, flimsy paper that was not able to protect it properly. They also tried to deliver us other peoples items and we told them that was not ours.
Customer service is non existent with them and they have not followed through on trying to help me. I have started a claim process but I am sure that it will be very extensive and lengthy. I have never seen such unprofessionalism in my life and I could have hired a bum off the street and he would have done a better job packing than what was done in this case. I would like some sort of restitution, but these things are family heirlooms that can never be replaced so money will not even fix this but it would help to put my mind at ease.
