Thousands of home buyers in this country are being defrauded by unscrupulous home builders. When a buyer tries to research builders they are often misled by clean reports from the Better Business Bureau. This even happens with state consumer protection agencies that use OUR tax dollars to support the agency. Complaints on file are not necessarily available to researching consumers, and if they are divulged, they may be labeled "resolved" when they really aren't. Arbitration clauses in builder's contracts are another way thousands of complaints are hidden because this takes away a home buyer's right to use the courts, is not public record, and often comes with a gag order. Once you have closed on the home, if hidden defects or omitted materials are discovered when the damage from them shows up, the typical home owner has a very hard time getting warranty service. Laws that once protected consumers with regards to a home purchase have been eroded by the home builders association lobbyists. Home buyers usually do not have anything close to the legal recourse or consumer protection they think they do, when they are forced to take action against a bad builder. Check out the Buyer's Guide online at www.hadd.com and if you want to show your support for accountability from the home building industry, check out the Petition link on hadd.com too. This industry has been hard at work taking away our consumer protection and this has resulted in many ruined lives; speak up loudly and publicly and help put an end to this fraud!

These builders ARE scumbags! My builder say's F/U sue me. Go to his website www.perilliumhomes.com. You will see he now goes by LANE Custom Homes, guess why ! I cannot tell you how much grief this moron has put myself and my (disabled) wife through. His attorney's are very well politically connected in this horsebutt KANE County Ill. Everyone is related here, but us. This builder has left us with at least $100,000 in repairs. If I had an attorney to take this case on a contigency basis I would sue the pants off this guy. I cannot afford the lay out $15-20,000 at this time. My wife and I both drive around with professionally made signs on our car's saying, "We REGRET building with Stephen Lane of Perillium Homes now d.b.a. LANE Custom Homes. We have gotten unbelievable support by people that not only know this guy, but have gotten ripped off also. This man does not realize yet how fast bad news travels. MAKE SURE EVERYONE KNOWS WHEN YOU GET RIPPED OFF, this is the best means of retaliation. GET A SIGN !!! GOOD LUCK!
