Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Yesterday my husband called netgear support to troubleshoot a new wifi booster we bought.

The support tech told him they would have to physically link into our computer to see what the problem was.  Unfortunately, my trusting husband allowed them to link into our computer... I was not home at the time.

The tech support guy started opening our personal files and told my husband that there were things stored on our computer that contained pornography and extreme violence.  The tech guy also said that the compter showed that 13 people had hacked into our system.  Yes...Netgear support actually downloaded software onto my computer!

Note: This computer is new to us.  I have maybe 20 or so hours on the computer over the past 6 months, and mostly I have used it for research of a spiritual nature.  I am posative that there has not been anything downloaded onto this computer that is not totally wholesome.

Tech support proceded to tell my husband that the wifi booster would never work as our system was too corupted, He also told my husband that he could be arrested if he doesn't do something immediately to prevent others from hacking in, and also remove the corruption on our lines.

Netgear's solution was to buy their service that was $300.00 a year.

At this point my husband told the tech support guy that he would have to check with me regarding such a large purchase.  The tech support guy said he would check with his supervisor to see if he could perhaps come up with a bit lower price, and said he would call back the next day, giving my husband time to discuss their anti-coruption, anti-hacking, anti-thrown in jail service.

My husband called me at work and told me something terrible had happened, and that he needed to talk to me in person...so by the time I sorted out what had happened I was actually relieved to find out he had just been merely scammed.  I looked forward to talking to the netgear tech and though I wasn't sure what exactly i was going to say, I knew I was going to try for justice.

My husband was shaken, and we both are mortified that a well known company like netgear would be so agressive and predatory.

The next day Netgear tech support called back--and I answered the phone.  I exchanged pleasantries with the tech and then he asked me if I was the wife of Kevin, and if kevin had talked to me about the urgent issues we have with our system.

I said that I was aware of the conversation from the day before and that I had been looking forward to his call.  The tech guy got very excited and let me know that he was able to arrange a special offer just for my husband and I.  He went on to say that they would reduce their fee to $175.00.  I told him that it was very kind of him to reduce the fee, and thanked him for his trouble.  He said that it was no trouble, and proceeded to sign me up.

I told him that after finding out what I extreme threat we had I took immediate action right after his first call, and found a company that would clean up all the coruption issues in our system.  I told him that I choose this other company as their system operated with "Hyperbolic Function" using "Reverse Magnetic Technology."   I told him that this other company's price of $2000.00 was well worth the technology we will be getting, and that we did not want to take the risk of going to jail.

The Netgear tech told me that they also use reverse magnetics and hyperbolic technology and their service was a fraction of the price.  At this point, had to put down the phone and have a full on belly laugh.  I was pretty sure that netgear had not invented a technology that I totally made up a few seconds before.

Once I got back on the phone, the tech continued to reassure me that neatgears reverse madnetis are superior to any other companies and that the hyperbolic technology is used successfully in their system.

I told him that I was very sorry, but since I had already bought the $2000.00 system from the other people, I would not be able to purchase his.
