North American Savings Center creating credit problems, not fixing them! *UPDATE
In January of 2001 I was contacted by a telemarketer on behalf of North American Savings Center. This representative explained that this program would help me consolidate my credit card debt without costing me anything. He explained that I would receive a list of low interest banks, at which point a customer service representive from North American Savings Center would aid me in choosing my best option and set it up for me.
Believing this to be too good to be true, I questioned the free aspect. He explained that they would charge $398 to my account, but it would be removed when I contacted North American Savings Center for my credit consultation. Upon further questioning he explained that the company made its money on the interest the $398 created for them in the months time. To confirm this transaction he transfered me to a man(Dan) he claimed would only be able to confirm my basic personal info and would not be able to answer any questions.
When I contacted North American Savings Center the customer service representative explained that not only was I to contact the banks myself, but the $398 was never to be refunded. When I explained the breakdown I had agreed to, the representative simply laughed at me. He argued that only the taped conversation with 'Dan', the confirmation man, was the contract agreement and all of my probing and questioning of the earlier gentleman was inconsiquential.
When I told him that all of this sounded like a scam, he simply chuckled something about me being out of luck. He wouldn't even concede that the gentleman I had spoken with had been badly trained.
This is anything but a help to my now larger credit card debt.
