I bought my Oakwood home in 1999, Big rip off! A 24x48 doublewide which I paid 47,000.00. I had to dig my own footers, The foundation was built 6 inches too wide for the house because they (Oakwood Homes) did not meet with the foundation contractor nor give him the foundation plans, therefore costing me an additional 2000.00 to inset the foundation to fit correctly. Once the house was set on the foundation it set with almost a foot of space between the house and foundation because the beams did not set down inside the foundation far enough, which then I had to purchase more blocks to fill in the gap. I have a big hump in my kitchen ceiling above my refridgerator, The bases in the bottom of the windows are not level, very crooked, My kitchen cabinets have literaly fallen apart, they used what looked like staples to hold them together. The door facings have fallen off because the nails were too small and no heads on them, The phone lines were pinched off inside the walls which caused a short in the other lines. There is an uneven gap under the carpet in the center of the home where the two sides come together. Furnace vents were placed in the floor too close to the walls where all furnature set on top of them. You cant walk through the house without sounding like your walking on 100 year old wood floors. And to top it off I had found out that the manager of the store had been fired. I Have not and will not reccomend any oakwood home to anyone. You can buy a bigger and better home for less than what i have in this junk hole which i am paying on for 30 years which will not last that long.

Original Poster is my Brother.. I would like to add that more costly damage has occurred to this poorly manufactured Oak Wood Home.

Danny's home is experiencing bad leaks from both bathroom toilets, and the hot water heater. This has cost him costly damage to flooring, carpeting, walls, and cabinets. Some areas of the Master Bathroom, Bedroom, and small bathroom floor have caved in due to the leaks. Oak Wood Homes should be taken off of the market. Their homes are a liability, as well as those putting them together. I thought Oak Wood Homes went bankrupt? I see more and more homes in Oak Wood coming in. These homes need taken off of the market. I don't see how they pass any building codes. I thought buying a new Manufactured Home made dreams come true? In my brother's case, it has made his nightmares come true. Don't be Stupid, by a Commodore or Colony. DO NOT BUY OAK WOOD!
