Oh Brother, I wish that I had read the reports here BEFORE I placed an order with Office Store Depot, (aka inkcessories, OSD). I see that there are already 4 reports about this guy.

My order follows the pattern found in other reports here. On March 6th 2008, I placed an order for a print head and 50 ink cartridges. Today, (11 days later), when the order had not arrived, I checked their so called 'tracking system' and discovered that the order was showing 'in-progress' and there was no tracking number. I tried to call their 1-800 number only to discover that it does not work from Canada, furthermore they make no mention of any direct dial number on the web site, ( even though they claim to "Ship World Wide").

After some digging, I finally managed to find a telephone number ((626) 447-8700). When I called during business hours, I discovered that it was nothing but an answering machine that does not even identify the company name, (so much for their grandiose claims about a customer service center, training center, warehouse etc., in the "about us" section of their site). This is clearly a one man operation, probably run from the back of an apartment. The website domain is registered to a John Jacobs.

In response to my phone message, I received a call back several hours later from someone with a very young sounding voice, (my guess early 20's). It was definitely the same voice as that heard on the answering machine message. He claimed that I should have received a USPS tracking number on my invoice, (which of course I never received). When I asked, he told me that the package had shipped on the 11th, and then sent me a copy of the 'invoice' via email.

Surprise, the invoice showed a shipping date of the 15th, (yesterday), and the tracking number shown is not contained within the USPS system as of today. I know for a fact that the USPS system updates each night, so there can be no doubt that the package did not ship on the 11th either, (as he claimed on the phone), and most likely not yesterday. And of course, the invoice, containing the tracking number, that he told me that I should have received could not have been sent earlier as he claimed, since the invoice copy that he sent me showed the shipping date to have been only yesterday, so how could he have previously sent an invoice containing a tracking number prior to the 15th?

My guess is that at best he may have shipped my item today in response to my call, but based on the previous reports to be found on this system, probably not, and the tracking number was just electronically generated, and has no value. I have no intention of even going through the nonsense that he has put the other people through, (blaming the post office etc.). I am just going to call the bank and charge back the payment tomorrow, then report him to the California Department of Consumer affairs at http://www.dca.ca.gov/. Those of you who have already dealt with this, please do the same immediately so that we can get this guy put out of business. Anyone else, Caveat Emtor.

The Customer did received his product that he ordered. He denied the delivery of the package and returned it. Once we recieved the return item we refunded the customer.

In response to my informing Office Store Depot via a message left on their answering machine that I had checked with the USPS about the package that they sent me, and ascertained that they had cheated me on shipping charges, and that the weight indicated that it could not possibly contain all of the merchandise that I ordered, I received the two email messages below. This is followed by my response to their email. I find it interesting that they are now claiming to have sent two packages, and not just one, (even though they only ever sent me one postal receipt). A print head is a very small item and would easily fit into a box with ink cartridges, I can think of no reasonable explanation as to why this would be done, unless of course it is not true, or, (as I now suspect), they ran out yesterday and sent the remainder of my order to cover their tracks. That type of action would be typical of what has already been reported by others here, and what they did after my complaint of non-shipment after they sat on my money for 11 days. In any case, there is no doubt that they have cheated me on shipping charges as I have already reported in my previous update. What ever they do at this point is academic, since I have already instructed my bank to charge back the purchase. Lets not forget the FACT that you sat on my money for 11 days before you shipped the one package that you sent; in fact you did not ship my package until 30 minutes after I called to complain about non shipment. Lets also not forget that you lied to me about having shipped the package. When you called me on the phone in response to my message of complaint, you claimed that the package had shipped on the 11th of March, followed by the fake invoice that you threw together after we spoke, which had NOT been sent to me earlier as you claimed, which stated that the package was shipped on the 15th. In fact both dates are wrong, as can be proven by the post office records, which clearly indicate that the package was not shipped until 12:42PM on the 16th, which by funny coincidence just happens to be exactly 30 minutes after the time of my call of complaint. The time of my call of complaint can be proven from my long distance records. The date of the purchase, (which was on the 6th of March), can be proven from your own automatically sent purchase confirmation, and credit card records. I have already had my bank charge back the entire purchase amount. I have no desire to conduct any further business with you. You are unethical, an outright liar, and a fraud, and I can back up every one of those statements with hard documents. The only thing that remains to be done is to photograph the one package that you did send, including its post mark, then forward it, and the photographs to the FBIs regional field office in Los Angeles. Here is a further update. I just spoke with the USPS. According to them, the package that was sent to me weighs 6 ounces, and Office Supply Depot paid $2.24 to ship it. Now let's look at the math. I purchased 50 ink cartridges, and 1 print head. I just got out my scale, and a full ink cartridge weighs .85 ounce, and the print head weighs 2.1 ounces. 50*.85=42.5 ounces, plus the 2.1 ounces for the print head totals 44.6 ounces, (plus the weight of the packaging). The math says that the package contains only the print head and not the ink, since the print head at 2.1 ounces plus the weight of the packaging would come out to approximately 6 ounces. There is no way that this package contains the ink, for which I was charged $84.50. And of course, we cannot forget the $30.00 that I was changed for shipment via USPS Priority Mail International, while the package was only shipped via airmail at a cost of $2.24..... I have just instructed my bank to charge back the full purchase price. Once the package arrives I will photograph it, and then open it and photograph the contents. Then I will either return it via registered mail, or send it to the FBI field office in Los Angeles and report it as a case of mail fraud, asking them to investigate.

Package Has Not Arrived, And Already I have Been Ripped-Off

Here is a quick update. I was charged $30.00 for shipping via the USPS Priority Mail International service, (which provides a tracking service). When I had seen no tracking entries for my package after 8 days, I called the USPS this morning, only to discover that the package was sent by regular Air Mail. According to the shipping rates on the USPS web site, the maximum weight that a package can be for this service is 4 Lbs., and the shipping charge would be $15.46. I am quite certain that the weight of my package would be less than half this, which would have made the shipping charge about $8.00. I have advised this clown via email that if he has not refunded the difference to my credit card by the end of today that I will have the entire purchase price charged back by my credit card company, and I will then only pay him for the purchase price and the actual shipping costs as indicated on the package when/if it arrives, (and assuming that everything is as purchased/advertised).

Here is an update on my report from yesterday. As expected, the USPS tracking system now shows that my item shipped at 12:42 PM yesterday. This was shortly after my original message of complaint left via answering machine. We therefore now have conclusive evidence that this John Jacobs lied to me yesterday when he stated that my item had shipped on March 11th, 2008, and also in the quickly put together, (after my call of complaint), "invoice" that he mailed me, which showed the shipping date to have beein on March 15th. This preempts my ability to charge back the credit card charges, (for the time being). Based on previous reports, I would not be surprised if I get either a defective print head, or cartridges containing substandard ink. Look for updates here. Again, this means that he sat on my money for 11 days, and did not ship the item until I called to complain about non-receipt. Another interesting item: I noticed that some of the previous complaints about this company were over items purchased at eBay. This got me curious about the feedback available there. The eBay user ID is under osdstore, and surprise, this eBay account was suspended as of February 26th 2008; gee I wonder why! Unfortunately, this deletion means that all of the auction details have been deleted, as has all negative commentary. He was a member since 2007, but there is no way to see any of the past commentary, (no doubt all of the people who complained here, who also purchased items at eBay left negative comments there, but they are no longer visible). In any case, based on the numerous reports here, I think there can be no doubt as to why he got tossed at eBay. One has to wonder why there are always such great delays by this company in shipping items. This is speculation, but my guess is that he is in arrears with his suppliers, and is playing one customer off against another; thus he uses the funds from the latest sales to pay his suppliers for the items of previous sales, Otherwise, they would not ship to him. This would result in the shipments for all orders being late. As we have seen in previous reports here, he will do everything possible to delay the return of, or the issuing of credits for returned items, since this would cause havoc with the above system. I suspect that a Dunn & Bradstreet report on this business would prove most enlightening, and would very likely confirm the above speculation.
