Hi: This is what you do. Call the original creditor and inquire is to what and why you owe. Get a 3 bureau report from Equifax , Experian and Trans union to see if it is affecting your credit. Call the agency and ask for their mailing address. Send them a certified letter -demanding they prove you owe the debt. Under federal law they must send you documentation that you owe it within 30 days or cease collection efforts. If you dont owe the debt, dispute it with all 3 major credit bureaus. They will do an investigation and the agency or creditor must again prove you owe it or remove it.
