Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

We JUST found out the cause of these problems is our install RECENTLY.  :O(

We bought a Palm Harbor home in November 1998, out of the eleven years  we have lived here.  We have been struck by lightning seven  times, this last strike on September 15th, 2009 was extremly bad.  Not only did it hit our home but it struck our neighbor across the street at the same time. I was hit by lightning in 2005 was on a news cast. the lightning hit the tree outside , then the televison then hit me in my wheelchair and blew the arms off the wheelchair. Since this last strike we went to the county building permits and what we learnd made us sick. It stated on the permit that Palm Harbor had plumbing contractors Brown and Associates hooked our electric up.  We have lost computers , televisions and air conditioning we have had to rebuild it many times over. They did not do well with our shower, as it had a leak since day one and now the floor is coming apart. The power company says our home was not grounded why we keep getting struck, one electric company wants $800.00 to get all this straight. when we got the home it took the contractors six months to get it ready. we kept asking Palm Harbor why it was taking so long, they said the contractors where having problems getting it hooked up. We had to pay our rent in Atlanta and the rent here which was very costly, we have put a lot  of money in repairs that we can not afford. We are both on disability barely getting by, I have researched this company and there has been many complaints all  over the United States. You can look on line at Palm Harbor Rip Off reports, they also lock you into a thirty year loan which these homes will not last. The minute they are off the lot the value of the home goes down you can not refinance them either. Consumers , buy a regular house or stay in the apartment don't be put in this night mare as we have been. It appears since President Regan took off the regulations back in the 1980's we the consumers are at the mercy of the product makers wether it bea home or car.   I feel all of who are going through this should make a class action law suit.

Warning before you think of buying a mobile home, the value loses over 1/2 in the first year you have it, the loan is for 30 years and NO ONE at Palm Harbor Homes stands behind their warranty.  In our case, the Covington, GA franchise sold us the home and then went out of business our warranty is null and void because the Palm Harbor Homes main offices DO NOT stand behind warranties and we have wasted several thousands of dollars in repairs and replacement appliances because of their sub-contractors shoddy work-who, incidently, also is out of business.

For the person that made the comment to this author:

Are you saying the house was struck by lightinging because of lack of maintenance?

Get off the gas! Electricity not being properly grounded is the main cause. Look at all the other Palm Harbor rip offs and see exactly what fun they get to go through when the home is installed. Plumbing all the way to electricity is screwed up!

Ever heard of homeowner maintenance?  To blame lightening strikes on the manufacturer of the home is crazy.  Did your neighbor have Palm Harbor also?  They got struck too!  It could not have passed county inspection if the home was not wired properly anyway.  Fail to see the ripoff here.  ANY home requires maintenance, whether a manufactured home or a mansion.  Appliances carry their own warranty.  They are not made by the manufacturer of the home.
Why do you let a shower leak on your floor for 12 years???
