My name is Kurt E, and I am the Manager of Aamco Transmission in Tigard, Oregon. I am a Christian man and feel it is my personnal duty to report that Paradise Coach in Sherwood - Tigard, Oregon, recently brought in a motorhome that they had ALREADY SOLD, because the transmission was leaking fluid. The Manager of Paradise Coach, Jeff ?, stated that they had "Cheap Sold" it because the bank note on it was coming due.
We found that the transmission was leaking from multiple areas and recommended an inspection for reseal, which requires removal and disassembly of the transmission. At this point, Jeff, asked if there wasn't some cheaper way to make it stop leaking "for now". I explained that this was the only way to stop the leak, so he agreed reluctantly.
Once the transmission was removed and inspected it was found to have internal part damage as well as severely burned clutchs. This unfortunatly made the cost of repair go up. Jeff told me that they didn't have enough profit from the quick sale amount to cover the proper repair, and asked me if I would just "patch it up" for less money. I told him that I would not do something like that and he became upset. About 15 minutes later, Jeff called me back and told me that I should not do anything as he needed some time to make a decision.
Two days later a guy in a pickup truck shows up at my shop and say's he is there to pick up the disassembled transmission. I called Jeff, and he verified that and stated that he was going to have a mechanic buddy of his look it over. A few days go by and the transmission is brought back to my shop, assembled and ready to be installed, which I have no choice but to do, because this 30+ foot motorhome is stuck in front of my shop. This really didn't set well with me, because I know in my heart that whatever sort of repair that he had done was less than what should have been done to make it right.
As if that wasn't enough from Jeff at Paradise Coach, he has the nerve to write a review of my shop that say's I tried to overcharge him. Like he is somehow a poor victim in all this. The real victim is the people that bought the motorhome, in good faith, and will likely have a real bad experience out in the middle of nowhere....

#2Consumer Comment

This rebuttal comment is in defense of Paradise Coach. The amount Jeff paid to have the transmission repaired at Marty's Transmission is the going rate for a rebuild without removal and installation. As you can see from what Aamco charged to install, the cost for that still does not get you to $4200.00. For the record, an automatic transmission has many components in it that do not all need to be replaced in a rebuild and most times they are not. If you want to know the real truth about Aamco prices, just go to Summit Racing.com and you will see that you can purchase a brand new transmission on line with racing componets in it for about $1299.00. So either Marty's can buy parts cheaper than the largest transmission rebuilder in the country "or" he is just more honest. I would guess that Kurt makes pretty decent donations at his church. Remember, there are a lot of people who mask themselves behind christanity.

It is unfortunate that Paradise Coach's owner, Jeff, seems to have no conscience whatsoever, and feels that twisting the truth about what they do to their moterhomes to make them "road worthy", is a proper way to do business.

The transmission repair and the warranty that went with it, are sub-standard at best. That transmission had considerable Hard Part damage (excessivly worn or damaged gears) and could not possably been repaired correctly for that kind of money. It is as plain as doing the math, and thats what Jeff at Paradise Coach doesn't want to give the average consumer credit for. People are not stupid, Jeff. The cost of the parts necessary to make a PROPER repair to that transmission, exceed the amount you paid to have the job done by Marty. Hmmmmm, theres a problem. That means that Marty must have left a few things out, and also performed his labor for free. Does that make sense to you?

The bottom line is that nothing in life is FREE. Everybody deals with the same two things, PARTS and Labor. Now maybe Marty did the labor for less than Aamco, and maybe Marty did his labor for absolutly free, but I know for a fact that Marty doesn't buy his parts for less money than "The World's Largest Transmission Rebuilder". And that is why I feel the consumers need to be WARNED about people that do business like you choose to. It is WRONG!

I wonder how good that warranty will be when the people are half way across the country? How about just as far as Idaho? Does Marty have a shop in Idaho? You said this is just foolishness, in you own words, Jeff, but I believe that it is anything but foolishness. I am passionate about what I do for a living and actually care about the customer after they drive away. That is why I stand behind the repairs I make in all 50 States and Canada.

And for the record..... when I called you about the review you wrote about me, I never said anything whatsoever about "making you pay", I simply stated that since you had written despariging statements about me it opened the door for the truth to come out, and it was you that threatened me with "your lawyer" and hung up on me. Your threat didn't scare me, Jeff, and the truth is still the truth. I am happy to defend the truth in court if you wish, but I'll bet you would rather not have to hear any more truth, because people like youare afraid of standing in the light and being honest. And a good day to you.

#4REBUTTAL Owner of company

Wow, where do I Start in responding to this crazy deflection of responsiblity.

The entire reason kurt From Tigard Aamco wrote this rip off report was because, after they (tigard Aamco) replaced my transmission and I believe overcharged me, they sent me an email with the opportunity to rate their service. Genius huh ?

This customer service quiz asked for responses about my experience and I answered honestly. It also has a box to check if you want to send it back "anonymous"  so I checked that option.

The next day, I get a phone call from the Manager of Tigard Aamco ( Anonymous huh ?) telling me ,If I didnt remove that response he was going to make me " pay" and he would spread the word that paradise coach was a bad business.   Well  This is to show how Kurt the christian man responds when a bit of truth is spoken about the Business he works for.
He has no reason to write a Rip off report about my company other than to deflect and justify his actions as a Transmission shop that has had way more than one bad review after another.

Yes I took the Motorhome to Kurt at Aamco to have the trans looked at. At the time the vehicle was driving and shifting fine although it had a leak. We at paradise coach DO NOT send out vehicles that are not road worthy,so even though we had sold the coach for minimal profit,I wanted it fixed for my customer.

Thats when Kurt with Tigard Aamco tells me that "oh yes we can probably re-seal the trans for around 800.00 ,But its gotta come out "   So I aggreed to that repair.

Then once the transmission is out, I get a call from Kurt the christian man from Tigard Aamco, telling me oh man,you need more work on this thing, 4200.00.  So lets see, from 800 to 4200 just like that, and at that point had the trans out and there was no way I could pick the coach up and run with it,so I had the trans picked up and taken to Martys Transmissions in North Portland. Marty rebuilt the transmission 100% and gave me a warrantee to give to my customer( the new owner ) and the price was 1800.00.  Quite a difference from Tigard Aamco at 4200.00.

Then aamco Tigard charges me 921.00 to put the trans back in. It is my belief that they were upset that I had the trans rebuilt at a different reputable shop and didnt let them charge me the Aamco prices.

Well enough of this foolishness, My reputation speaks for itself.  Check out my Feedback on eBay Over 9 years and over 600 Motorhomes sold with 100% positive feedback.
