Do not rent from these people. I tried renting an apartment and they list the price as $1,325 then tried to increase it to $1,514 after I told them I gave my landlord notice and I wanted to move in. Then blame the increase on renovation and marketing.
Here is the email thread below:
Me: Hey Lucia,
I noticed on the application requirements the rental amount is $1,400 but on the site where I saw the listing, the amount is $1,325. Is this correct ?
Park Property Management: Hi
Yes that’s correct however It says starting from and since we are doing renovations it is$1400. Let me know if you still interest .
Thanks
Me: I will come tomorrow around 630. I also need to bring a certified check of $2,800 (first and last) correct?
Park Property Management: Sure come in tomorrow at 630 pm its $1450+65 =1515*2= 3030 that’s for the fist and last month . we are doing mayor renovations .
Me: I'm a bit confused, the monthly fee is 1450 now?
Park Property Management: Yes it is we are doing full renovations , as I mention on the phone I don’t make the marketing target . I have to follow what they send me .
My apologies .
Think about it and let me know soon .
Me: No need to apologize, you are not at fault. I just feel the "marketing strategy" the marketing team employs is not very ethical. Making my landlord fill out that form forces me to give him a moving date. Then raising the price twice (1,400-1,450) and again before finalization comes off as shakedown tactics. I am certain renovation costs were forecast before the ad was posted. I will think about it and I will let you know by Saturday if that's not too late.
