REFUSED TO HONOR ADVERTISED WARRANTEE POSTED ON AUTOTRADER, CARGURUS AND TRUECAR OF 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES ON A 2007 CHEVY MALIBU WITH 31K MILES

WHEN I CONFRONTED THEM ABOUT THEIR POSTED WARRANTEE ON AUTOTRADER THEIR SALES MANAGER LIED TO ME AND TOLD ME THAT THAT WAS THE FAULT OF AUTOTRADER. I SPOKE TO AUTOTRADER YESTERDAY AND CONFIRMED THE DEALER POSTED THE WARRANTEE IN THE AD THAT WAS POSTED ON AUTOTRADER.

THAT'S FALSE ADVERTISING AND IN NY IT VIOLATES GENERAL BUSINESS LAW SECTION 349 ALSO KNOWN AS THE UNFAIR AND DECEPTIVE PRACTICES ACT. PENNSYLVANIA ALSO HAS A SIMILAR LAW.

IF THE CAR IS AS GOOD AS THE DEALER CLAIMS IT IS THEN THE DEALER SHOULD HONOR THE WARRANTEE THAT WAS POSTED IN THEIR AD ONLINE.

IN ADDITION THEY AGREED TO SELL ME THE CAR FOR $5400 BUT THEY WANTED $149 DOC PREP FEE WHICH THEY CLAIM GOES TO DOT. WHO ARE THEY KIDDING. THAT IS ADDITIONAL DEALER PROFIT.

THEN THEY WANTED A TEMP PLATE FEE OF $65 AND TOLD ME I AM REQUIRED TO TAKE THAT IN ORDER TO TAKE THE CAR OFF THE LOT. THAT SHOULD BE OPTIONAL IF I DECIDE TO GO BACK TO NY AND REGISTER THE CAR ON MY OWN AND BRING MY OWN PLATE.

Unfortunate Mistake

Occasionally mistakes happen, there was no intent to mislead. Once the mistake was discovered we let you know, corrected the listing and double checked the rest of our listings.

Had we had intent to defraud you, we would have let you drive here sold you the vehicle and told you after the fact that we wouldnt honor the warranty. Good luck in your search for a vehicle, I hope it all works out for you.

THE DEALER KNEW WHAT IT WAS DOING, THIS IS NO MISTAKE, IF THE DEALER WANTED TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT THEN THEY SHOULD HONOR THE WARRANTEE THAT WAS STATED IN THE AD.

IF THE CAR IS AS GOOD AS THE DEALER CLAIMS IT IS THEN THEY SHOULD OFFER TO SELL ME THE CAR AT THE ADVERTISED WARRANTEE OF 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES.

IF THAT IS NOT WHAT THEY INTENDED TO DO THEN THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE PUT THAT IN THE AD OTHERWISE THEY BROKE THE LAW AND ITS FALSE ADVERTISING.

A COMPLAINT HAS ALSO BEEN MADE TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND THE PENNSYLANIA DMV.
