In the History section of paypal, it will tell you if this transaction was through the bank or the credit card. If it says 'Bank', then you did it through your bank. I do transactions both ways, and Paypal always completes the transaction as I have requested. I am not defending them, but I do a lot of Paypal transactions, and know the system well. When you paid for this item, did Paypal bring up a screen after you chose to pay with your credit card that stated something like "paying with your bank account is better"? If you didn't see that screen, you didn't pay with a credit card.

I did change it to credit card for this transaction and it still supposedly did not register according to PayPal.

Paypal doesn't want you to use a credit card because you can issue a chargeback very easily. So, they default the method of payment to your bank account. Before clicking SEND MONEY, read the screen. It tells you what account the money is coming from and give you the option to change that source. It's says "MORE FUNDING OPTIONS". If you click on that, it will bring you to the screen that has your bank and credit cards. Choose the correct funding source and then continue. You have to do this every time, because they want the money to come out of your bank account. I'm afraid that your complaint will fall on deaf ears because, in the end, this is your fault, not Paypal's. You didn't read the screen, and you ultimately press the SEND button when it clearly stated that the funds were being removed from your bank account.
