You were offered a free month as incentive to stay. You accepted the offer. Think, if you had a business, would you hand out your money to people who were absolutely leaving your services right then? If you only wanted your free month, you should have called and cancelled service after that month. Otherwise, you should have cancelled your account right at the moment, WITHOUT the free month of service. You did not cancel your account in june, you accepted a free month to continue using their services.

I had the same type of thing happen to me back a few years when MSN first started charging for the chatroom type thing. I think it was like $19.99 a year or something. A pretty small amount......HOWEVER. I remember calling in and telling them to cancel the service/subscription WTHever it was called. That would have been about March of '04. I moved later that year...just across town...nothing major. I knew I had canceled the service and I never ever used it again....never even went back to the site. I NEVER received a bill after that and I had canceled the credit card that I had used at the time because of a high interest rate thing. Anyway :-)) In late '06 I get a nasty nasty bill/letter from them threatening me with everything shy of taking my first born (which from time to time I would gladly do) I couldnt even figure out who or what the bill was for. I had to call em to find out the bill was for a service I had canceled some 2 years prior. NO one ever notated my account so here they'd been charging me the entire time. When I called them I asked them if they didnt think it odd that I had NOT used the service this entire time where before I was logging in every day. Here they had charged me the $19.99 for both years I hadnt used the service merely because the CS rep I talked to didnt notate my account. I have never dealt with someone so nasty and ill mannered not to mention ill tempered. I yanked his chain for the longest time......little did he know I was laughing at his little ill defined temper tantrum. It was $40 bucks for pete sake......not worth such a fit by any stretch. Good luck getting your situation handled
