I just got my bank statement and to my amazement there was a canceled check included from a company called Inter-Bill on behalf of www.pharmacycards.com for $139. This check, obviously not one of my personal checks, had my name and account information printed on it and was sign by someone named Susan Walker as my "authorized signatory". The only other clue as to where this check came from was one line at the bottom..."www.pharmacycards.com 1-866-467-3536".

Needless to say, I have never heard of pharmacy cards.com, much less authorized them, or anyone else, to take $139 from my bank account.

When I called the number it was answered by a company named Client Care Relations (a glorified answering service). After being assured that pharmacycards.com was a "legitimate" business, I was told that I would be put on a "refund list" and that I should receive a credit for the $139 within 15 days.

I asked how this happened... how I was enrolled... how did they get my checking account information...

I was told that this company sent me a letter informing me that if I did not respond to decline enrollment within a certain number of day that I would automatically be enrolled and my account charged. I never saw any such letter. If it came at all, I'm sure I trashed it as junk mail. The person I spoke to could not tell me how they got my checking account information and that there was no one else who could.

I asked for a phone number to contact pharmacycards.com directly and was told that there was none.

I'll let you know if I do get a refund, but even if I do I don't intend to just let this pass.

Believe it or not I got my money back! Still don't know how they got my account numbers but I haven't given up yet. I'll keep you posted. Interesting comment by the representative at "Client Care Relations" in response to my outrage at being ripped off... "I don't know what your problem is, you're getting your money back." Oh I don't know, could it be that my money was stolen in the first place??!!
