Phoenix Technologies - DriverAgent.com Only 2 of 11 drivers recomended were usable, all others were uninstallable or for wrong part North Andover, Massaachusetts, Beaverton, Oregon, Milpitas California
Phoenix Technologies - DriverAgent.com website the process of updating your pc's drivers is as easy as 1 - 2 - 3. I found it to be nothing less than pure frustration. Their server is able to identify the current drivers on your pc, but the reccommended updates are anything but that. I had a problem getting the drivers to install - I actually called their Technical Support Team to get assistance. I was able to install 2 out of 11 recommended updates. All the others did not apply to my hardware, showed error messages upon trying to install them, or were older than the drivers that I already had installed. This site is for technicians or veteran PC users, not for amatures or intermediates. Examples
Recommended Drivers:
ATI SMBuss - If these drivers are not self installing most PC users are unable to find the location in the hardware Device Manager to locate where the hardware is and update the driver. This particular driver would not install. This driver is for an ATI device and the driver reccommended was from a company called AshRock.
HP PSC 1500 - The drivers selected from DriverAgent were for the wrong model.
USB Composite Device- What I found in my PC was that there were four of these located in the Hardware Device Manager and two had one driver and two had another, so since the driver was not self installing how was I to choose? Make the wrong mistake and my PC could be inoperable.
I made an order for their software package (3-Softwares) offered on Octobber 16th, 2008. I had the misunderstanding that their server would locate drivers that needed replacing and replace them with limited assistance from the PC user, but that is not how their system works. You become your own PC repair person. I was so frustrated after three days that I just wanted a refund.
I would assume that since I called their technical support on the 20th before requesting a refund, and got some assistance that will bereason enough to deny me a refund. I found their software to be essentially useless. I could go to any manufacturs sites and get the drivers that I needed without the expense. I applied for a refund four days ago ( Oct.20th,2008). I removed their software from my PC, sent an email to the refund center stating that I would no longer use their software, completed the online refund form, and called the refund center to get an RMA#57676.
The cost for this service was 29.95 They offer a "30 Day Satisfaction Guarantee" where if you are not satisfied within 30 days they will give a full refund. Well, I was not satisfied within 4 days and completed a refund request and RMA# so that I could recieve a fulll refund. Will it happen? I believe this company will not honor their 30 Day guarentee and decide to keep my money. I will repost weekly to let you know.
I called customer service today and they stated that the refund will be input today Oct. 24th 2008. If I have not recieved confirmation of a refund within a weeks time I will start complaints with the BBB, Ohio/CA/MA/OR States Attorney General's Consumer Services, as well as report them to several government agencies. If I get ripped off I want other consumers to be aware of this company before doing business with them.
