At first when I went on the website for Pinyan Labs it seemed like a good breeder. There were multiple pictures of dogs hunting with many birds laid out beside them. The prices were reasonable and he talked nonstop about hunting and training the puppies. He implied we had the pick of the litter and our puppy would turn out great. I couldn't have been more wrong

We called Ron and I talked to him and he said that we would have to wait 8 weeks before we could get our puppy. When we went to pick up the puppy, we didn't get to see where the breeding grounds were. The only thing we saw was a trailer he parked in his driveway in town. We got to play with our puppy and another in the front yard. Our silver lab puppy was about half the size of the black puppy.

We took our puppy home, named her Dakota like the state to go with our other dog's name (Jersey). We started to notice she was bumping into and skirting around objects. It became obvious something was not right with our little Dakota. We made an appointment with Iowa State Veterinary Clinic to get her checked out. When the vet was finished checking her out she told us that our puppy had dwarfism and was classified as blind in both eyes with the left eye worse than the right. The veterinarian said later on in Dakota's life she will have to take medication and might have to have her eyes removed due to detrition of the cornea. The vetination also determined Dakota has dwarfism. Dakotas complications are a direct result of poor genetics fro one or both parents.

We had a contract that said if there were something wrong with the puppy he would give us a full refund the second option was to exchange with another puppy. By the time we found out she was blind; the family was already attached to Dakota. We were informed Pinyan labs put down dogs that were not up to standards. We could never exchange our little Dakota just to have a perfect puppy. Our love for her outweighed the disabilities. When we called Pinyan Labs to inform them about the situation he acted is if it was ok and informed us we would only receive $300 of the $700 we paid for her.

When looking for a puppy, research your options. Some breeders are just in it for the money they can make off of puppies. Pinyan Labs is a breeder with very poor lineage. One, both or all their dogs could have traits of blindness and dwarfism due to interbreeding. I noticed that on earlier reviews people had paid $1500, then it went down to $1000, and now when we bought our dog it has gone down to $700. People have been hearing about his inadequate breeding. His prices have been going down.
