Platinum Protect false advertising Provo Utah
Like the other customers, a rep. from G.E. Platinum Protect approached my home, stating that due to recent break ins in my neighborhood, they are a new company starting out and are providing 5 free installations of alarms in the neighborhood to increase their advertising. All they ask is that you show their sign in front of your house.
The sales-person misrepresented the price by not identifying added sales tax (which none of the other alarm companies- ADT or Brinks- charge extra for. They also don't mention Clearly that the contract is for 5 years and if you cancel they will charge you a prorated percentage of the remaining amount of charges left on your contract.
Customer service is very poor, with a very un-caring attitude.
We are not 100% sure if the alarm is connected to the local emergency agencies to respond if it did go off.
I DO regret leaving Brinks and signing up with this company. Brinks tried to warn me and there are also negative reports of service, installation and repairs with the Better Business Bureau, but I ignored them.
Recently, this company was taken over by 'Monitronics' who is now taking money out of my checking account automatically, however, neither company notified me of a change.
