I rarely comment on rip off report. I am a consumer and bought the same license for their play later software. They have since discontinued the software but upgraded us to the latest PlanOn software with the more enhanced features. So far I am extremely happy. At times during a new update some of the features fail but a new update resolves them. This is obviously not a TV subscription. It is very clear during purchase that you have to have cable or dish or Amazon prime or Netflix etc to be able to use this software. Regarding return and refunds, I have not asked for one so not eligible to answer that question. But if you are not happy then they should provide you with refund. I would start with credit card company and then file a complaint. For folks with the same issue, I recommend , downloading the latest. Also contact their support. They are excellent with email support.

I would like to say that if play on told you to dump Norton as your AV then they're trying to help you. Nortan is a memory hog, it's ridiculous to set up exceptions in and is probably one of the worse AV after McAfee or Kapersky. Having worked with software I can honestly say that anytime anyone told me they were running any of those three AV's the first recommendation I had was to uninstall them. There are much better Anti virus softwares out there that don't slow down your machine or lock it down from simple software. . If you followed their instructiosn I'm sure you would have been able to get the software to work. It's not very complicated. I wanted to give my two cents so that someone else reading this review isn't scared off by the lack of knowledge about Anti Virus Software and streaming that this reviewer posses.

I feel the need to defend PlayOn from false statements, even though I'm not at all affiliated with them. The OP filed this report with the main complaint being their refusal to refund money, which is flat out wrong. It is clearly stated, for anything other than subscription cancellation, that you need to send an email for the refund (http://www.playon.tv/account/cancel/). I know this to be true because they issued me a refund within 10 minutes of my email request to them (I had accidentally made two purchases).
You don't need to be a programmer to run this software; just an ability to follow written instructions, which the OP obviously lacks. I highly doubt PlayOn staff told the OP to "dump" the antivirus and firewall; you just need to create exceptions within them, as is the case with a lot of other software out there. I'll admit that PlayOn has its problems, but to post on Ripoff Report is a bit excessive.

I checked my bank before my first rebuttal and it wasn't posted but they did refund my money. I still recommend you stay away from Playon simply because the software is so tech oriented that the average person will go nuts trying to get it to work. They even suggested I shut off my anti virus and firewall. That seems really stupid from a tech company who knows how much junk filters through Windows..so it might work but I tried and the digital signal kept breaking up. It's a good concept that needs to be worked more, but NOT AT THE CONSUMERS EXPENSE....anyway I got my money and felt it is my duty to report that...if you have a problem with Playon you have my permission to contact me..
and thank you Ripoff Report, they saw this and I'm sure that's a big reason I got my money back..thank you very much for a very excellent service, if I can ever be of service to you please let me know....G.H.

Liars Liars Liars, you have made no attempt to make a deposit into my bank. I have not received any personal email from you telling me that the money is being deposited. The list of people who are in your company sounds very impressive until it's time for a refund. Then it makes you seem like a fraud, a scam and a company that should have a class action suit taken against it which I am going to try to do.
Please if anyone is reading this DO NOT PURCHASE PLAYON TELEVISION, OR ANY OTHER PLAYON PRODUCT. Their product is shoddy and inferior and they don't refund your money.
But they lie and say they will. I am calling Federal Authorities tomorrow...nobody should have to go through this, and look at the nice letter they wrote but they still haven't made a deposit to my bank.
I am going to B.B.B. in N.Y., and if anyone can help legally I would really appreciate it. I am also going to campaign and take out adds to let people know what a ripoff they are. I shall report every few days or if a govt. bureau gives me information that would help bring them down.
Shame on them....

First of all, let me say that I'm sorry for any confusion around getting you a refund. If it's truly been less than 30 days since you've purchased, we'll gladly refund your $59.99.
It sounds from your description like you tried to cancel a subscription rather than request a refund. As we have both lifetime and subscription pricing, you may have mistakenly chosen the wrong option. Cancelling a subscription simply cancels any renewal payments, as you have no renewal payments on a lifetime license our system was simply telling you that you didn't need to worry about cancelling. Now, if you'd like a refund on that lifetime license, we can certainly do that. Just email us at [email protected] and we'll gladly take care of you. We do not have phone support, but our email support will typically answer you very quickly.
We'll try to make our website more clear to avoid similar confusion in the future.
Cheers,
The PlayOn Team
