I'm filing this report on Plumb Line Services of Centennial Colorado on behalf of my sister-in-law. I've encouraged her to write her own report as well. This company charged her more than $600 to fix a leaky toilet. She's not educated about home repairs, contractors and the like. I am, very much so. I was a licensed contractor. This company charged more than $300 fo a toilet tank repair valve that costs roughly $20. The shut-off valve at the wall is tallied at over $100, and that's under a $25 part. I skp the rest of the details. I'm utterly disgusted with this company.
So, Plumb Line Services of Centennial, CO, here's what we're going to do. If you don't refund at least $400 of that bill (I cannot see how that service call would cost more than $175), we will: A) File a complaint with the Colorado State AG's office under the Colorado Consumer Protection Act; B) Lodge a complaint with the BBB of Denver; C) write a telling, truthtul consumer review with Yelp; and D) contact local Denver consumer advocate Tom "Troubleshooter" Martino at AM 630 KNOW. Meanwhile, folks: do not trust this company in the least. They are the epitome of plumbing contractor ripoff artists.

I'm impressed that this company took the time to call my SIL to discuss the inflated charges and did in fact refund her in full. Good conclusion. It still bothers me that Plumb Line charged more than $600 to fix a leaky toilet. I'd say this: plese, consumers, ask questions and get several estimates.

Thanks to the additional information, Plumbline services was able to reach out to the consumer and remedy the situation to her satisfaction. She understands that CSR's, truck expenses, liability insurance, facilities, warehouse and other support functions of the business contribute towards the total cost of a job and that parts and labor are not the only consideration. She was extremely satisfied with the resolution options provided, and I encouraged her to have her brother in law contact us directly should he desire additional dialogue or information surrounding his concerns.

You'd "love" do discuss this, huh? Again, I'm doing this on behalf of my sister-in-law, who gave you guys open access to her residence and entrusted you to complete the job adequately and fairly in her absence. What do you do? Overcharge her by at least 3X.
The invoice is dated July 9, 2014. Invoice # is K8433. Amount is $615.20. Service tech is listed as "Jeff D."
For what it's worth, I was a contracted for years in the homebuilding industry. Then I worked for Fluidmaster, which I hope rings a bell. The leaky toilet issue you were contracted for should take no longer than an hour max. There was no drywall work, no soldering, no inlet pipe replacement, no movement of the lavatory sink or toilet. I've done every one of these procedures you list below, scores of times, and it shouldn't take over an hour and $50 in parts. In my mind, this is criminal and your service tech should be fired.
Here's what your invoice states:
* Replace shut off valve and supply line: $303. Are you serious? A braided stainless steel cocnnector costs maybe $20, and the valve maybe the same. Labor involved is roughly 10 minutes, and that includes draining the tank.
* Replace fill valve: $150: That's insane. A Fluidmaster valve costs under $20, a ballcock valve a little more. Labor would be 14 minutes max.
* Repair pop-up assembly on lavabory: $109.25. Jeez...I can't believe it. This would cost $5 in parts and 10 minutes of time.
* Replace pop-up assembly on lavatory: $331. You have this listed twice. What's up with that? Why the discrepency in price? This needs a serious explanation from you.
* Trip chase: $42.95. What is this? The trip lever or the cable? Maybe the flapper too?
This whole bill is pathetic, ridiculous and criminal. I will send a copy to DORA, the Dept. of Regulatory Agencies, as well as the BBB of Denver, and file a report with the AG's office under the Colroado Consumer Protrection Act.
To negate this, you can refund the homeowner you have listed under this invoice at least $400.
