A Cautionary Tale of Rip Off by Podoll Auto Brokers: 1340 Ainsworth St Colorado Springs, CO 80915

My 19 year old daughter chose a 2003 Saturn Vue from Podoll Auto Brokers: 1340 Ainsworth St Colorado Springs, CO 80915 … Beautiful inside and out with new tires and a nice smooth ride, although well aware a 12 year old car isn’t going to be perfect she was concerned with purchasing a vehicle with a check engine light on for a total cost of $7,000. She put down $2,200 as well as traded in her 1999 Lexus 300 for $500. JOSE the Finance Manager assured her there were NO problems with the vehicle and the warranty would cover any costs associated with said repairs within a 72 hour period from date of purchase. “Just bring the car in tomorrow, I’ll have the Service Dept. correct any problems”; all the while convincing her someone had probably just forgotten to press the reset button after they’d performed a full vehicle inspection and oil change just a few days prior.

After repeated calls over the next 3 days, voiding the 72 hours from date of purchase, JOSE finally acknowledged her with a rude and obnoxious disposition bluntly telling her to bring the car in…. When my daughter left Podoll’s service dept. the following day the engine light was off however by the time she arrived home 15 minutes later not only was the engine light back on she realized the tech’s had broken the gas gage.

Again after many ignored messages to JOSE my daughter and I finally took the car back to Podoll’s only to be greeted with complete disregard or even a modicum amount of customer service. JOSE immediately began lambasting us for bothering him and abruptly snapped “the service dept. is backed-up, take the *d**n car* to an independent repair facility and call the warranty company yourself”; however JOSE refused to supply the name or phone number of the warranty company.

The Saturn Vue was taken to SPRINGS AUTO and TRUCK for inspection and diagnosed with over $1900 worth of pre-existing conditions which JOSE would have been fully aware of had he actually taken the time to service the car as he’d stated. When confronted with this information JOSE began screaming, yes I said *screaming* at me over the phone.

JOSE then drove to SPRINGS AUTO and TRUCK and lied to the office manager telling her we’d authorized him to remove the vehicle from their property. However, unbeknownst to JOSE, the office manager is my cousin, AND I happened to be standing in an outer office talking to JOSE on the phone as he flat out lied, claiming he was in the PODOLL business office; while placing me on hold he repeatedly lied to the officer manager/my cousin attempting to convince her I’d authorized him as a representative of PODOLL to release the car to him.

Imagine the look on his face when he turned to find me staring at him from across the room, still speaking to me on his cell phone as he attempted to lie as to his whereabouts.

Face to face I told JOSE I’d already contacted Westlake Finance and canceled the entire transaction and we’d be bringing the car back to the lot for a refund, less any restock and use of mileage fees. That’s when he threatened me. “If you bring the car back to the lot I will have it towed and drop in your front-yard. You will be responsible for the tow bill”. I informed JOSE “it is unlawful since I did not authorize towing service, HE would be the one stuck with the bill.”

Spoke with KEVIN PODOLL on the phone; after a heated debate he finally made the concession to “Keep the car, we promise to fix everything allowable under the warranty.” KEVIN PODOLL then came down to SPRINGS AUTO and TRUCK and refunded the $62 we’d paid for the diagnostic test. KEVIN PODOLL personally drove the car to RUSTY BOLT GARAGE (719) 597-6854 6045 Terminal Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80915.

KYLE at RUSTY BOLT GARAGE kept the car for one (1) full week. We received the car back and one (1) hour later the engine light came on. I called KYLE at RUSTY BOLT GARAGE, he told me “It’s not a big deal, it’s something we forgot to do and it will take only about 10 minutes to fix”. KLYE then text messaged me “You know what, it might take longer than 10 minutes, I’m going to have to keep it for the whole day but I can’t get to the car today; I’ll get to it in the morning.”

May 12, 2015: Returned the car to KYLE at RUSTY BOLT GARAGE and requested a copy of everything they’d done. KYLE’s response was “I can’t get into my system, I’ll get everything together, print off a copy and you can pick it up.” However a copy has still NOT been made available to me or my daughter. RUSTY BOLT GARAGE kept the car an additional 2 days. KYLE could not/would not find the source of the leak [sic] and he suggested she purchase a new/used engine for $1800 plus approximately $2500 for additional parts and labor.

May 14, 2015: My daughter has had this vehicle for less than 30 days, and it’s been in the shop 6 times and approximately 20 days including one (1) day at SPRINGS AUTO and TRUCK. Oil is running from a slow but steady stream from underneath.

On 2 separate occasions HEIDI called my 19 year old daughter and threatened her with civil action if she did not remove the bad review she wrote on the YELP website.

 

May 15, 2015 HEIDI told me she needed the title from my daughters’ trade-in order to junk the car. However, May 16, 2015 HEIDI told me the car had already been junked in MEXICO. What KEVIN PODOLL failed to realize; per U.S. CUSTOMS and BORDER PROTECTION; EXPORTING a MOTOR VEHICLE SECTION 192.1 Interpretation and Application of 19 CFR Part 192 “For vehicles for which a junk or scrap certificate, issued by any jurisdiction of the U. S., remains in force, the owner MUST provide to CUSTOMS the ORIGINAL certificate or a CERTIFIED copy of the ORIGINAL document and two complete copies of the original document or CERTIFIED copy of the ORIGINAL”.

Makes you go hummmmmmmmm…. so based on the fraudulent practices PODOLL AUTO BROKERS has demonstrated to us HEIDI lied to me, or then again it’s altogether possible HEIDI may have falsified documents to the U.S. CUSTOMS and BORDER PROTECTION.

May 16, 2015 KEVIN PODOLL finally agreed to take the car back and he wrote my daughter a check for $481.50 and told her when she brought in the title to her trade-in on the 1999 Lexus 300rx they would give her an additional $500, they ripped her off for $1719.

KEVIN PODOLL got extremely angry when I asked for a written receipt for the $481.50 and assurance of $500 for the title to her trade-in on the 1999 Lexus 300rx and I refused to leave his office without written confirmation.

Not only will this review be posted on YELP, it will also be posted on RIPOFF.com, GOOGLE, CITYSEARCH.com, EPINIONS.com, POWERREVIEWS.com, LOCALYAHOO.com and of course I’ve opened a case with the BETTER BUSNINESS BURREAU.

Additionally the AIR FORCE ADJUNCT OFFICE has been alerted; they have assured me they will in turn forward this review to the ARMY ADJUNCT REVIEW BOARD. The GAZETTE TELEGRAPH, KRDO, KKTV, KOAA, FOX 21 NEWS, and the COLORADO SPRINGS INDEPENDENT. This review will also be posted on the Message Boards of PIKES PEAK COMMUNITY COLLEGE, COLORADO COLLEGE, REGIS UNIVERSITY, UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX, NAZARENE BIBLE COLLEGE and the UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO SPRINGS.

Westlake Finance company has assured me they will no longer provide financing to PODOLL AUTO BROKERS.

May 18, 2015: Filed a complaint with the AUTO INDUSTRY DIVISION COLORADO DIVISION of REVENUE

If you’ve managed to read all the way to the bottom of this post you’ll realize it is extremely evident PODOLL AUTO BROKERS has no moral compulsion to live up to their end of the bargain. They are an unscrupulous company possessing no values, ethics or redeemable merits. PODOLL AUTO BROKERS, the owner KEVIN PODOLL, JOSE, HEIDI and their EMPLOYEES are morally dishonest and misrepresent the product/cars they sell. They are disrespectful, rude, corrupt, lying cheats. DO NOT purchase anything from them.
