Well, well, well. You need to go to www.nbc5.com, go to target 5 section. Watch the clip about the couple that caught the General Manager "Joe Rojas" taking a bag of food from a garbage pail and serving to them.

YOU WOULD NOT BELEIVE IT ! d**k PORTILLO YOU SHOULD RETHINK WHO YOU HAVE WORKING FOR YOU.

Even after " General Joe Rojas" admitted it to the customers, a Streamood Police Officer and Portillos Insurance Company... d**k Portillo continues to employ this person as a "GENERAL" manager.

This "GENERAL MANAGER" also stated to the customers, with witnesses listening, that "HE DOES THIS ALL THE TIME". WHOLLY s**t WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO.

Please stop in at Portillo's in Streamwood Illinois and tell them what you think of their practices, or go to portillos.com and tell them !

To clarify for you, the manager said we do it all the time They take out food out of the garbage all the time to feed it to customers We calledc the STREAMWOOD police and an inspector, they admitted it to them as well that they took the food out of the garbage and gave it to me This was the manager, Joe Roja The garbage can WAS behind the counter. There is a Video on channel 5 they came to our house and videotaped it. Portillos offered us money to not do it. I would not take it. They gave our order to another family, who, after going through all the food realized it was not their order they handed it to the manager. The manager looked at he said oh this is yours and he handed it to me. I said I don’t want this order They’ve already all had their hands in it it’s cold I would like you to make a new order he got mad he threw the order in the garbage I then brought the salad that my husband ordered over to him started explaining the story went back up all of a sudden the food was ready very quickly usually it takes a while because I always order my onion rings crispy this time it was really fast The manger Joe handed me the bag the witnesses there claimed that as I walked away, they all laughed because he took it out of the garbage they even saw him throw it in and take it out of the garbage I went back to the table I opened the bag I noticed all of my food was all cold. My husband said that’s the original bag that they wrote on you could see the order they wrote. He said they took that out of the garbage Then he got up he walked over to the counter, He said which one of you fed my wife food out of the garbage the manager. Joe Rojas said I did he said ". We do it all the time.” Think of that next time you go to Portillo’s Maybe that’s where they got the name for the garbage salad

I WILL NEVER EAT AT PORTILLO'S Again

I ate at Portillo's for years. I did like the food, but their prices in my opinion ARE TOO HIGH. I viewed the video and totally believe these witnesses and DO NOT like the way the owner d**k Portillo reacted to these customers. The manager admitted it before seeking guidance from there higher ups. Now the owner is just trying to do damage control. Portillo's has a tendency to hire Latino people, in my opinion because they want to control them. The Portillo's employees NEED TO UNIONIZE NOW. And take control, and make sure their employees DO NOT DO THIS AGAIN. Once AGAIN, I WILL NOT EVER EAT AT A PORTILLO's Restaurant AGAIN. Thank you for bringing this out, and God Bless.

PORTILLO'S GENERAL MANAGER JOE ROJAS CAUGHT REDHANDED SERVING FOOD TO IT'S CUSTOMERS STRAIGHT FROM THE GARBAGE. WATCH THIS VIDEO ON www.nbc5.com Click on video's Type: Dirty Matter in search bar. PLEASE SEND THIS POST TO PEOPLE YOU CARE ABOUT. CHICAGO -- A suburban couple says a popular Chicago restaurant is trying to keep them quiet after an incident that involved fast food and old garbage, Target 5 reported. Portillo's said it simply didn't happen and the two customers in this case are just after money. Those customers said they were, in fact, offered money but only if they didn't talk to the media "Of course I wanted to go to Portillo's -- that's my favorite restaurant," said Debbye Sottile, who went to order lunch there with her husband, Peter. The couple said their order was simple: a salad, hamburger, hot dog and onion rings. But then things got complicated. In front of Debbye Sotille, a man who said Portillo's gave him the Sotilles order brought it back to the counter. "I said, 'This is not our order, it's someone else's,'" said the man, Efrain Aguinaga. Then, Debbye Sotille said a Portillo's employee handed her that same order. "She went to hand me the order she had already handed somebody else, and I said, 'No, I would prefer that you remake the order because he already had it, and walked away with it,'" Debbye said. What the Sottiles said a Portillo's manager at the Streamwood location did next is key to their complaint. "He said, 'Fine, we'll make you a new order,' and he took the bag and crumpled it up and he threw it in the garbage," Debbye said. "We saw him throw away to the garbage," said Aguinaga. "He was mad about it." Less than a minute later, the Sottiles said their new order was ready, but the food was cold. "I said, 'Wait a second, if they threw out the order, how do you have a bag with the order written down on it? This is the original bag,'" Peter said. "I said, 'Why did you feed my wife food out of the garbage?'" Their situation began to draw in the attention of other customers. "I saw a commotion," said customer Sandy Krueger. "The manager admitted, in front of me there, that he'd done that before," "It wasn't a clean bag. It was the old bag," said Efrain. Portillo's said at no time did any of its employees admit to serving the Sottiles or any other customers food from the trash. "We did not serve it from the garbage. We showed the guest the original food but he didn't believe us," said a Portillo's employee in a taped interview provided by Portillo's. Streamwood police confirm for Target 5 the manager of Portillo's admitted to them he gave the Sottiles a bag out of the garbage, but said he put new food in it. An health department report obtained by Target 5 included the same information. The couple said the whole dirty debacle -- reported to the police and local health department -- led to an attempt by the restaurant to buy their silence. "They came back and they said, 'We're going to give you $1,500 if you don't say anything to the media,'" Peter said. Restaurant owner d**k Portillo said the offer was made by his insurance company and is not a sign of wrongdoing. "It never happened, and I resent it," Portillo said. Portillo said his workers said the food was thrown out, not the bag, and he said the other customers were not close enough to see what happened. He said the Sottiles are litigious and just after money. The Sottiles did not take the offer, and have not yet filed any lawsuit. Portillo's underwent a subsequent health department inspection, and passed with a score of 91 out of 100.

Think about the minimum-wage people who process your food. Cutting up chickens. Gutting out cattle. Slicing up the bad tomatoes right along with the good ones. Ever stop for convenience-store coffee in the morning? Guess who makes it. You are allowed to have rat feces and dead bugs in food items. Here. Read it all for yourself. Google The Food Defect Action Levels. You'll get the FDA website. They'll talk about objectionable matter contributed by insects, rodents, and birds. And, fly eggs and maggots in tomato products. You'll see technical talk like Average of 1 or more rodent hairs per 10 grams. Not to mention Average of 5% or more pieces are rejects due to maggots. Go ahead. Go there. Read it for yourself. I don't make this crap up. Now, I don't know what this restaurant is doing. But, there's a ton of crap in your food long before they every get around to handling it.

"Witnesses"

#13Consumer Comment

Wed, November 15, 2006

I find it hard to believe that the "witnesses" claimed that "he does this all time time." After witnessing it the first time, one would think said "witnesses" would never return. Why would they want to risk being served garbage as well? That really does not add up. Furthermore, what is a "garbage pail" doing in a dining area where customers can see it? Nearly all restaurants keep their "garbage pails" in the back by the dishwashing station -- not in the dining room. Again - a very strange detail.
