I lost my passport on the on the 12th of April in New York. Because my Dutch Vodaphone mobile did not function, I went to the Prepaid Mobile Shop LLC, 488 7th Avenue, New York. I asked for a prepaid Sim card that would enable me to make three short telephone calls to my family in the Netherlands.
I paid $ 70,00 for this card. But then the vendor said that I had to use a American mobile phone. I said: 'O.k., I will bring this back after my three calls'. The vendor said he needed more infomation to find out how he could help my friend and me (we felt confused and stressed, our age is 71) in the best way.
After the telephone calls we brought the mobile phone back.
After we had returned in the Netherlands, I found out that the Prepaid Mobile Shop had charged my bank account for an additional $ 483,92.
I called up Adam (718-219-7367) in order to find out what had happened. Adam was irritated. He said: my boss James will send you a message. James wrote that I had to wait a month (till 21rst of May) for the restitution of my money.
There was no restitution. James is not reachable by mail any more.
I feel myself robbed. What makes me extra angry is the Ripoff Report about this Prepaid Mobile Shop LLC of Saturday, January 18, 2014. The victim, a man from Quebec, writes: Asked for $250 deposit and promised the deposit back after one month. Never see the deposit back, not reachable the store. As an individual traveller, I do have complex feelings about New York after this.
