I financed a 97 Honda Civic from Prestige Financial in January of 2000. Prestige Financial specializes in poor credit. Due to some poor decisions when I was younger I have very poor credit but have always paid on my cars, on time and more than what the monthly payment should be. Because of my poor credit my interest rate with Prestige is 23% on an $11,000 car loan. Every three months I get a letter in the mail congratulating me on paying on time for those three months and they lower my interest rate 1/2 of 1%. I consider that an insult. If I was to keep my car until the terms were over I would have spent $26,000 on a Honda Civic. (not anywhere near worth it)

The trouble started when their call center started calling my house. Nothing irritates me more than to be called at my home by somebody who has no business calling. I have made 13 perfect payments on my car since that regretful purchase. My payments of $328.00 are due on the 19th of each month. Every month I physically walk my payment in of $330.00 to Prestige.

Heres the bad part, about four months ago I received a voicemail on my home phone stating I needed to call Prestige Financial asap. Not knowing what could possibly be wrong since I make my car payment on time I call to find out. Ray proceeds to tell me that my car payment is 6 hours late. I then proceeded to let him know that his statement is impossible not to mention insulting and told him to look in their overnight drop box. He told me he would look, the call ended and he didn't call back until...

The following month, I received a voicemail at home stating I need to call Prestige. This time Ray tells me it is 4:00 pm and the last mail run has come for the day and my payment was not in the mail. That this is a courtesy phone call to remind me my payment is due today. Prestige closes at 7:00 pm. Why would he assume I was not making my car payment today. The day was not over. He assumed because I have poor credit. At this point I am irritated and tell him my payment is not late and please do not call my house with a "courtesy" phone call. Next month comes and same thing happens again. Ray calls with the "courtesy" phone call and I go off on him. I proceed to tell him not to call my home, that I have made 13 perfect payments and I don't need him to remind me when my car payment is due obviously.

After hanging up I am so mad I call back and ask to speak to his Supervisor. I tell her the story and she tells me that this will not happen again and she apologized. The next month comes and the same thing happens again. I tell Ray the same thing again and let him know I am calling the BBB. I ask to speak to his new supervisor and she apologizes and tells me he won't call again.

Larry H. Miller owns Prestige Financial so I wrote Larry and told him my complaints over one month ago and have received no word back. I feel that Prestige takes advantage of people with poor credit and once they get you financed they treat you like crap simply because they feel like we (meaning people with poor credit) deserve it. I am never late on my car payment...I would hate to see how they treat the people who are.
