Priceline- "Name your own loss!" Name your own RIPOFF!
I'm just fulfilling my need to get information out to the general population who have used priceline in the past with a little or some success; BEWARE! This was my very disheartning experience that I had with PRICELINE.COM:
I was using their services to check out what kind of deals that could be had on their site for a luxury car that I needed for four and a half days.
I needed a large car for three large guys for a long trip to Las Vegas. I was turned down for my initial offer and resubmitted for an offer that was significantly higher.
My offer was $35.oo a day plus their fee and taxes. I submitted that request and sent it, and it came back approved, but came back approved for an economy car.
I never made a change to the car that I was searching for. PRICELINES policy is that once it's approved, there is nothing you can do to change your contract.
I did some research on how this could have happened. If on the second try where you select a car and you don't, it will automatically default you to an economy car with no resolve to getting a change to your contract if you submit the order.
I hope this helps those others that have had some success with priceline in the past. Just beware!
Their system is set up to capitalize on unsuspected consumers like myself. I did some checking online with Hertz.com and they charge approx. $18.00 a day for an economy car about half what I am paying on priceline who states that "You received the price you named as a result of the specific pick
up date, drop off date, car type, and location that you chose.
As a result, "your price" reflects SAVINGS that may not have been offered to you with any another combination. In fact, there is a good chance any modification of these original parameters would have resulted in your request being declined."
I am sure that with all the research that I am capable of I will find a better and larger car for my trip to Las Vegas for alot less than what PRICELINE says that they charge for an economy car.
Needless to say I feel like this will end up a total loss of about $160.00 and feel like I have no recourse through PRICELINE to fix the issue that will make me happy.
s of today priceline will be removed from my favorites list, a copy of this letter will be sent to all my e-mail contacts and request that they do the same if I don't get some sort of resolve to my second inquiry that I sent to PRICELINE today. I will follow up with their second response and my reply within 24 hours.
