Princeton House Behavioral Health Hundreds of Dollars of Secret Fees- East Windsor, New Jersey
After speaking to workers from the Princeton House's "Women's Trauma Program" on the phone, I agreed to try out their program. As soon as I got there, my first question was how much participation would cost. I was told that with my insurance, it would be $40/day.
After my first day, I realized that I really didn't have the $40/day for the program, and I let them know that I would not be attending.
A couple of months later, I received a bill from Princeton House Behavioral Health (the parent organization) for over $700. When I called to inquire about this, I was told that an intake appointment costs more than a typical day in the program. Nobody told me this, but even if that's a general rule and I was just naive, I don't think that a $700 disparity is reasonable.
I was nineteen when this occurred, and I do believe that my age and my obvious naivete about how mental health systems work were taken advantage of.
