I went in for a smog check on my '97 Honda when I saw the smog check signs posted outside the building. After waiting for a whole hour, they told me that I failed my smog check and the only way to find out the cause is to do a decarbonization and diagonsis of my engine.

Together, that was close to $200 already. After another hour of diagnosis, they told me that the O2 sensor is giving me the problem. So, with the decarbonization and the new O2 sensor, the repairs cost me $400, took another 2 hours and I still didn't pass the smog check. They then told me that it's the catlic converter that's the problem and estimated that to be $200. Since it was already closing time, I agreed to take it back on the weekend.

When I came back on the weekend, they took 4 hours to fix my car, claimed that they changed the catlic converter and my thermostat and charged me $275 for everything. I finally passed the smog check and went off on my way. A week later, my check engine light came on and I had my brother check it out. He said that the code is for the O2 sensor that Purrfect Auto had fixed and I need to take it back to them. I took the car back but didn't tell them that I knew what the problem was. Not only did they charge me another 69.95 for diagnosis, they told me that it was the other O2 sensor that's giving me the problem and estimated another $300 for the repair. By now, I had enough of this bull, so I told them that I need to think about it. They immediately lowered the price to $200 and tried to bully me into letting them do the repairs. I walked out and was determined to find out what's really going on with my car.

I then took my car to a Honda dealership. At the dealership, they inspected my car and confirmed that the check engine light is for the O2 sensor that Purrfect Auto claimed to have fixed. Also, since my exhaust manifold was cracked, they couldn't have fixed my catlic converter.

So, it's confirmed and I have proof that Purrfect Auto not only ripped me off for claiming that my car had problems, they charged me for services that they did not perform. I plan to take this to them and demand a full refund of my money.
