These scams make it SOUND like they have all your information. In reality, they usually need to ask you the NAME of your bank. Once you tell them, they look on their computer and get the routing number. Anybody can find that. All the routing number means is the numerical address of the branch you bank at. It's the same as saying Bank of America at 123 Main st. That doesn't tell them your account number. You see, they make it SOUND like they have your information. In reality, they need to find out your account number. They need you to tell them. Once they have that, they can steal money from your account. Without your account number, they don't get s**t. So, the correct way to get rid of pests like this is to say the following: Bank account? Are you kidding me? I don't have any bank account. I live on welfare. I don't have a dime to my name. How the hell can I afford a bank account? You're dreaming, pal! Once a fraud sees that you're a total loser, he'll hang up. And, he won't call back. Problem solved! See how easy that was? You just got to use your head, that's all.
