I have had similar experiences with Red McCombs. Back in 96 when I was looking for a red Mustang GT convertible they would sit there and play numbers games with me as well as try to talk me into another car I didn't want because they didn't have the color combo I wanted on the lot. I had already had a good offer from another dealer, but was seeing what they could do for me. They constantly played number games and everything they came up with was far more than the offer I already had. Red McCombs does business differently than most dealers in town. They are far more pushy and misleading. I am now looking for a new car again (but only in the phase of trying to decide what I want first) and back at a different Red McCombs dealer. This time at Superior instead of the Ford one. I was agressively pushed to buy today right now..etc. All dealers will be slightly pushy and that's ok, but what Red McCombs did was straight out harrassement. After 9 years I would think they'd have changed, butI gues not. I told them straight out I had a game plan and needed to make a decision on the type/model of car and sell my Mustang myself. They lied and pushed and I felt like I was a war prisoner. Not an exageration! I had a similar experience at a dealer out of town, but all others I have been to in SA have been very pleasant to deal with. In fact the World Car dealerships have been the most helpful and honest. It kind of depends on the salesman you get too, but I would recommend World Car highly.
