i was late on payment store notifies me i tell them that i will be in after work.

how much do i owe. employee answers 47.00 dollar. when i get to the store thay tell me i owe 98.00 dollars. reason is i have to make extra payment besides the 47.00 dollars on top of late fee. i questoned the extra payment. employee says its in the contract. i read contract nothing about this in contract. i called for store maneger he said each store has its own policies. can thay do this. p.s i had to pay are they were coming for the item and id lose all money already paid

Lesson one: If you are going to be late, let the store know. They appreciate you telling them what's going on, they are more likely to help. If you want to protect yourself, for fear that you have a great store run by not so great people, make a record of the times you call them. Write down who you spoke to and what the topic was about. If you want, write down what was told to you by the employee/manager. Pay attention to when your payment is due. If it's due on the first and you don't get paid till the 7th of the month then pay with the paycheck you receive before that. If You Can't Afford To Pay Out Of Either Paycheck or One Paycheck But Not The Other (i.e. one paycheck goes to rent, the other for bills) then you should return the merchandise until you can pay or can save up at least two weeks worth of payments and that way you have a nest egg in case you become late, but remember: If you have to use some of the money due to being late, then be sure when you do get your paycheck to put the money back. These are sure ways that you will not be late and therefore, they won't call and harass you. If you don't take my advice and continue to do as you have then you deserve your misery. I have been a customer of Rent-a-Center for over 5 years. Each time I have rented(with the option to buy) a product from them I have come away a satisfied customer. I have purchased computers, living room set, bedroom sets, washer and dryer, dishwasher, big screen TV...well you get the picture. Each time I have requested that the items be brand new to avoid getting a used and possibly broken product and prior to having the items delivered to my residence, they have reviewed the contract with me to make sure that I understood it. I, too had a problem at one time where I was late with a payment, but I called the store manager prior to my payment being due and explained the situation to them and they understood completely. And because I have been a trustworthy customer, they have provided me with excellent service. Sometimes its the customer that makes the businesses treat them like *&^%. I like Rent- a - Center so much that I rather go to them to purchase my products rather than going to another store. Respectfully

Most stores want you to pay another payment if you are more three days late, that way you dont fall behind again.
