On June 25,2014  I used priceline to rent a car for our vacation in Cancun. As it works with priceline I did not know the name of the provider until after the payment has been taken. This has never been an issue through many years of doing business with priceline. My non refundable payment was taken and my rental was assigned to rentalcars.com. They in turn assigned my rental to Europcar rental.  My rental was prepaid and included third party insurance.

When we arrived in Cancun at the rental counter the agent demanded I pay an adittional $26 per day for additional optional insurance. I declined , so he demanded an additional $10,000.00 deposit for the car!!!! When I refused , he said that was in the terms and conditions of the rental contract. The terms and conditions are not disclosed by priceline nor RentaLcars.com at the time the non-refundable payment is taken ,and whne it is disclosed, you have no option to cancel. Our attemps to contact rentalcars.com at the airport was fruitless and we ended up having to rent again from different rental agancy .

Up on my return I contacted rentalcars.com only to be told too bad you shopuld have read the terms and conditions. with hindesight  a little reseach on the internet would have shown that retalcars.com is a scam and should have been avoided however if you go the pruiceline way you have no way of avoiding it.

I will be persuing my case with priceline too. Avoid rentalcars.com it can ruin your trip!!!!!
