We were on the road and I needed to make a hotel reservation. I usually make them at home on the direct site and tried to do so on my phone. We always stay at Hampton Inns and so when I thought I had what appeared to be their site for the Hampton Inn & Suites located in Wells, ME. I called my the number made my reservation was given a price of $119.00 and after I exchanged my info was disconnecte. I tried to call back 3 different times and could not get through. I thought I would then check my email for a confirmation and I had received one. Not only was it NOT for the 119.00 quoted but 149.00, but it wasn't even from Hampton Inn. I called back again and again until I got through and tried to cancel this reservation to which of course they denied me and no refund would be granted. After that I found the direct number to the hotel, called them to make sure i even had a reservation to my surprise I did. But there goin rate was $141.00 and I could have gotten a AAA discount as well. Now Hampton Inn treated us amazingly wonderful!! They always have and that is why I always stay with the,. But this other company needs to be put out of business. I have reported them to Hilton and provided them with all of their information and hope they discover how they were able to pirate into their web site. But to everyone making hotel reservations be aware this kind of thing is out there. I will be double/triple checking when I call to make sure I have the actual people I entended to call on the line before I make any reservation from this point forward.
