We are an over 55 condo community. Rocio's Roofing was contracted to reroof one of our flat roof condominium buildings after Hurricane Wilma. We needed a roofer immediately and they were available. Their original representative was very professional and definitely knew his craft. Unfortunately, before our job began, he left his position and we got stuck with Jim Maghan and crew who took OVER A YEAR to finish the roof! In the meantime, they caused so much damage to nine other units due to negligence and stupidity. We filed a claim with their insurance but was denied because they had a clause that excluded any damages caused while the work was in progress!

They, together with the disgusting mechanical company Super Cool Inc. (that Rocio's highly recommended because they "worked so well together") left the rain caps on the roof open not once but TWICE in two weeks which flooded out six units in our building. Some of these units have still not been repaired because our roof is in complete failure.

Another two units were destroyed when he cut a hole in the paper (which leaked when it rained) and then he tried to blame it on one of the residents! He even called the police to report the "sabotage" after we told him we were filing a claim and contacting our attorneys. The average age in this building is at least 70! Why (and how) on earth would they climb up to the roof and cut an X in it? So that they could pay even more money to have it fixed????

The unit owners have no more money left to pay. They have been assessed $110,000 for the absolutely horrific roof job that now has to be replaced again! They have been assessed $36,000 for the appalling workmanship done by Super Cool Inc (who NEVER worked in unison with Rocio's Roofing, and they too had a hand in destroying the units mentioned above). The residents have been assessed for other mandatory upgrades to the elevator and security lights as well as the doors on their buildings. Most of these residents are on a fixed income and have already exhausted their opportunities from the City of Hollywood for loans. We now have to assess them another $125,000 to completely redo the roof AGAIN, in addition to appx $50,000 in electrical work that needs to be replaced because of Super Cool's horrendous workmanship and the City of Hollywood's neglect in allowing this mess to pass inspections!!Then we have to assess them appx. $50,000 to repair the damaged units and $25,000 to paint the building! It never ends!

We have had so many engineers and roofers on this roof and ALL of them have commented that it is the worst thing they have ever seen! But because of all of these assessments, the residents cannot afford to hire an attorney for this case! Trust me! No matter how great a reference Dania Jai Alai gives, no matter how wonderful the other Condo Associations on his reference list say they are - do not trust them - do not hire them! There is no quality to their work - it's deplorable! And they have ruined so many lives in this building - the people are literally sick from this mess!

Jim Maghan tries to come off like he's just trying to help - but he went door to door in this building asking to borrow $100 for a sump pump to put on the roof because of the excessive ponding! He borrowed $20 from our association president to buy supplies! He would get his draw (which we were told we had to give him because it passed inspection) and he would cash it at a Check Cashing store! He was thrown off the job only to have him return after he frightened the unit owners telling them that it was going to rain that evening and we would never be able to get someone to finish his work. So as much as they hated having him there, they were so afraid that even more damage would occur that they asked us to let him finish! We were left with empty promises and shoddy workmanship. They left the place a mess! He used duct tape on the drain lines to hold them in place! He never put some of the scuppers, etc. back!

Our roof is terribly spongy and extremely uneven. The water ponds or should I say "lakes". Our air conditioning racks will never survive any type of strong wind - you've got to see them to believe that someone actually allowed them to be built! Every inspector, engineer, roofer and attorney has all said they cannot believe this entire project passed inspection. He never finished the patch near the elevator because we were afraid that he would damage that too and we could not be without an elevator! We finally dismissed them to cut our losses. Now we are left with a total disgace of a roof, which of course has leaked! But rather than have Jim fix it, we paid another $8,000 to have another company come in so that it was repaired correctly.

I invite anyone who is considering hiring this company to come view Sheridan Lakes Building 2300 - right across from TY Park - you'd be better off hiring a crew of infants and sloths! Buyer Beware!!!

And if there is anyone out there that is willing to review this case, we welcome the interest. I have sent out so many complaints to the State, City, County, etc. that I don't know where to go from here. We have had no replies or financial assistance in this matter - it's so very sad!
