I was audited by the IRS and have had an ongoing problem since

1997,I saw there commercial advertised late one night. I was desperate I needed help. so, I called them to represent me.

First of all I am a single parent who was actually working part time at the time. They told me that it would cost me $900 to represent me.

I scraped the bottom of the barrel in desperation to come up with the money. I finally paid them. However , nothing was ever resolved with the problem. I contacted them several times in which four times I never received an answer period. When I did here from them I spoke with a young lady who said they would not give me a refund that they submitted an offer and compromise for me and that was all they was supposed to do.

First of all the IRS was tryng to get over $10,000 dollars

from me. If I had $900 to give anybody it would have been the IRS.They finally sent me a two page letter yeterday (1/28/02)Telling me that they didn't owe me anything> I am still where I started owing the IRS now I owe them with interest. I don't think it's fair that they can just take my HARD earned money like that. All I wanted was for them to do as there slogans says "we'll settle your debt for pennies on the dollar"

Please help me obtain some kind of results and stop them from doing this too some one else.

Sincere Thanks, Yolanda Y. Bennett P.S. everytime I see there commercial I get sick.....

She tried to rip me off. Until someone at the IRS volunteered information to me. She delicately hinted that I was not going to get anywhere with a certain Sacramento attorney. I got most of my money back-thank GOD! and used the refund to settle $40,000 with the IRS. I saved myself thousands. She is a preditory monster. File a complaint with Sacramento Bar.

You could haved all saved a lot of hard earned and hard to come-by cash by just calling your local Taxpayers Advocates office and explain your situation to them. They will guide you through the offer in compromise paperwork. And most importantly of all. Its FREE! You MUST however follow all the instructions and file it back in a timely matter. And ALL your prior year(s) returns must be onfile. If not you Must file the missing years return before they can help. See, They're really is light at the end of the tunnel!

Several years ago, I had a roommate who worked for the IRS. She was a lawyer, and she was part of the team determining audits. One case she worked on, the client was such a pain in the a*s (with their own lawyer) that the IRS backed off. I think there is something to the perception that the IRS likes to go after "little guys" because they are often without the means to hire outside consultants and fight. You have nothing to lose. Fight like hell! Supposedly they became the "kinder, gentler" IRS a couple of years ago (HA, HA, don't get me started on that one!), but in theory they are supposed to be a little more receptive to how their inquisitions can send some people around the bend. You can also report your attorney to the State Bar. They will investigate, they will look at what was actually done in your case and what the billable hours were. It's possible the lawyer will either do more work for you or refund some of your money if the Bar gets involved. Good luck to you.

I WAS READING SOME OF THE LETTERS AND IT IS VERY OBVIOUS THAT THIS FIRM HAS A GREAT M.O. THEY PREY ON PEOPLE IN DESPERATE SITUATIONS,USUALLY UNEDUCATED OR PEOPLE WITH MEDICAL PROBLEMS, PEOPLE THAT HAVE NO WERE ELSE TO TURN. THIS CONSUMER IS EASY TO TARGET. THEY ARE ALREADY BROKE, BOTH EMOTIONALLY AND FINANCIALLY. THERE WILL BE LITTLE FIGHT WHEN THEIR PROBLEM WITH THE IRS IS NOT RESOLVED. I CHECKED WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU OF SACRAMENTO CALIF. THEY ARE A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING. SO WHERE WERE THESE COMPLAINTS? IF EVERYONE THAT HAS BEEN A VICTIM WOULD CONTACT THE BBB OF CALIF. MAYBE YOU COULD HELP OTHERS NOT FALL FOR THEIR SCAM. MAYBE A WEBSITE WWW.DICKEDBYDEUTCH.COM WOULD BE APPROPRIATE. PLEASE CONTACT THE BBB.

Regarding the comment from
Susan - Gaithersburg, Maryland

This is EXACTLY how this scam works. I'm dying to know if you EVER settled? The lawyers can drag this out for months and months.

This comment is really inappropriate and a disservice to the readers. The IRS isn't coming back with more questions-the Law office is doing shoddy work, if they are doing anything at all.

I was told several forms had been filed, when in fact I discovered they weren't. I have documents from the IRS proving this.

That $900 package you state is so great for pennies on the dollar is FREE.

Its a plain old Offer of Compromise there are no tricks to it or special under the table technics, its simple just right exactly what your assets and debts are thats it the IRS will settle for what ever the amount is they could possibly collect if you owe the IRS $10000 and have $2000 in assets that could be liquidated thats the figure the IRS could collect so thats the figure you are expected to offer plus maybee a few dollars over for good faith.

The questions on the form tell you what to say.

You dont need some shark in a suit to charge you $900 for that, the $900 package should be renamed:

A lesson in the Bleeding Obvious!

I am a person who was in similar difficulty with the I.R.S., I was losing sleep, and stressed out to what seems like forever behind the impending threats, and collection activity by the I.R.S.. Roni Lynn Deutch helped me where there was no help elsewhere for a person in my situation. The initial report was for a person who could not hire the law firm at what they were asking, so, they offered me a chance to help myself with their assistance.

The $900.00 the woman was speaking of was for a "do it yourself" package that allowed me to submit the "offer in compromise" for myself, as I did not have the monies to hire this law firm to do the work for me.

I completed the packaged material, and to my amazement the I.R.S. settled with me for like they stated, "pennies on the dollar", the author of the original complaint must have not followed Roni's advice to a "tee", or she wasn't really "serious" about resolving her back tax issues.

I am so happy that I followed Roni's advice in the pre-recorded tapes, and would highly recommend this law firm to any and all that are within earshot, or eyeshot of this reply.
Thank You....

I have been working with RLD&A on tax problems created by an audit in 95 for years 93 & 94, based on a "railroad job" on me by H&R BLOCK.

We have come to a point of conclusion a few times, and the IRS always comes back with additional questions, some repeats of previous items.

The Lawyers and staff at RLD&A have been patient & understanding with my working with them...I have Lymes disease and it has affected my cognitive processes, and severe depression exacerbated by the H&R BLock rip-off, but we all try to have a good laugh.

Now, we havent closed the deal with the IRS yet, but we will hopefully soon. So I don't have a full experience report on the gang at RLD&A. But I would recommend them on my experience so far.
