Roof Time Contrators, Brad Jones, stated during their sale pitch that my deductible for replacing my roof would be $500.00 and the job included installing roof turbines. These were to be included and charged with the overall price.

We did not schedule a firm date, but I stated within the next week would be fine, but call first to confirm. I never received a call a truck delivered the shingles on a Thursday and would be back on Friday to begin replacing the roof.

During installtion, the supervisor left and the workers continued to work. One worker hammered in a nail and apparently struck an electric wire because it blew the bulbs out of the dining room light.

When I went outside to tell the workers what happened and to be careful, No One could speak english and the supervisor was not around.

The poor workers were left without a way to go get lunch and ice for their water. It was hot in Texas that day and a young worker knocked on the door with the water cooler and pointed to the freezer. If you have a choice of hot water or ice water when working in the Texas sun, you most certainly will choose

Ice Water!

In the interim, Brad Jones contacted my insurance agent to say the job was completed and requested payment. The check was made out to me and my bank. In order to process the check, my bank officer for out home loan had to physically inspect the work done. My bank officer went on vacation and was unable to inspect the work until approximately one and a half-weeks.

This infuriated Brad Jones as he called and left a voice message cursing and threatening to take all my posessions including my BED! This was just the beginning of his awful calls and visits. I live in a gated community because I am disabled and my husband coaches and is gone late. Living here I am able to call for assistance. I am not rich, I spend my social security money for medications (I take more than 18 medications).

Brad Jones showed up at my door and threating me and demanding payment. On another occasion, he showed up and sat outside my house for 20 minutes because I would not open the door. I am 5' 2, 54 years old, and very frail. I was NOT going to open my door to someone who cursed and threathened me.

During the first visit to my home and after the phone message cussing me, I sat down with home and asked for an explanation of the charges and why I was being charged again for the turbines, he demanded payment so we set up a payment plan. The first payment of$1500 went thru without a hitch. I was scaaared when he was sitting next to me and I made two checks out incorrectly. I did not notice this until later, so I made out corrected checks and mailed to him asking him to return/void the incorrect checks.

My second payment was returned by the bank for insufficient funds. This happened because my husbands first paycheck from his new employer made a mistake in calculating the number of years he had taught which resulting in the check amount being $800 less. I sent a cashiers check for the $500 + $35 returned check fee to RoofTime.

Brad Jones re-deposited the check even after receiving the cashers check. I did not know this until I received my checking account statement.

Brad Jones also deposited two of the $1300 checks along with the voided checks which resulted in payment of $800 more than what I owed.

I have not received a refund and 3 months have passed.

RoofTime uses deceptive sales tactics and is not to be trusted as a company to refund money due and will use any method including questionable processing of voided or paid checks.

You may ask why I did not pay him with the insurance check received. The banker held on to the check until he inspected the work. By this time, Brad Jones had begun to harass and threatend me and I chose to spend the money to pay bills and refill prescriptions. Am I responsible for all the trouble,no not all of it because he used dishones methods for payment.

He is not a moral businessman and will not remain in business as the complaints grow and I believe they will.

He even sent the $500 check to the district attorney to collect.

She returned them to him stating that the account was paid in full and considered this a business contract conflict. Need I say more!

This is probably the most useless complaint I have ever seen. I found this by mistake, I notice it is from 2007 but I had to comment on this due to this wack job lady actually filing a report.

If you read this note -

1) The work was done promptly 2) The bank inspected the work and made a prompt payment after inspecting the work.

The amazing thing, this wack job lady admits she spent the money on other things!!! and not for the work which was performed. Does ANYONE our there not see a problem with this. What was to contractor suppose to do??

The internet can be a good thing, but to give a stage to wack jobs like this lady is not good.

Just from reading this I would use this roofer with complete confidence.

Ok, I have few questions the client expressed that the district attorney said that the bill was paid? is this true? did you or did you not install 20 year shingles and expressed a 25 year shingle on the roof, attach copy of signed contract to proove or disproove this. Did you cash more money than the contract specified, and did your contract express an fee for returned checks, if it did not even though she may have written a bad check then you probably are not entitled to the fee's(not sure of laws) Where are any of the documentation at? wheres the bankers statement, where is the inspection papers? where is the police report, i mean yo said he was on your property and trespassing, well this is illegal, and well a police report would be making your story look pretty good right now, then again lacking a police report would be making Brads look even better. I been in both situations, and one of you are lying, now maybe not 100% but both your stories cannot possibly be true as they are conficting. I feel for the contractor, for several reasons 1. he actually responded, that says one thing, 2. is I am to a contractor and have been in same situation with taking numerous checks as payment and years later still not getting paid for them. Now I can also side with client, the main reason im self employed is because the company I was with was totally screwing the client and that is UNACCEPTABLE!!! My company is not perfect, I do not have my name on this list, but I won't ever say I wont' because there are alot of people out there that are funny in that way. But Brad even though I respect you as a contractor, the Better business Bureau is a JOKE! I refuse to join, even though I have 0 conficts with them. And for good reason, The company I was with cost the client literally thousands of dollars, and the BBB did nothign to protect them. You are paying the BBB's salary therefore it is a conflict of interest, this is why sites like ripoffreport rocks, they take donations, and even if you send in one, they'll still put you in their report. In the future I plan to donate to this site, adn even If I do get a negative, I will still donate. Angies list is also a fair service as its funded by the customer not the business. But yeh even though the company i was with lost in court, won a settlement, they didnt' recieve the $5,000.00(though it was 5 times less than the cost of repair) the company just added a letter to their name, filed bankrupsy and sold all their tools to the spouse, and started back up...What a wonderful world.... But for the record, its all about the record...Keep on tract, keep good notes, and definitly check out every contractor and CALL THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE INDEED INSURED! just cause they have a card doesnt' mean they are, just like car insurance you are given a card in which expires year after first payment, well dont' pay 2nd payemnt and guess what you still have proof...Are you bonded Brad? Maybe the Client really should have required this, as it can help alot of bad situations, and mutual arbitration clause in the contract is never a bad idea...Just as long as either party can reject the decision and take it to court.

My name is Brad Jones and i am the owner of rooftime contractors. After learning of this complaint i felt compelled to respond to defend my good name. I have been in this business for a long long time and this is the first report like this I have ever had. Please check the better business bureau for our outstanding status and compliance that we have adhered to over the years. Unfortunatly, there is that occassional person for what ever reason thinks that no matter what you do it is not enough. Mrs. --- has issues on top of issues in her personal life to the extent I will take the high road and not mention in this report. However I will say that we contracted with Mrs. ---- to install a roof after her roof sustained hail damage. We inspected this roof for free, then we met her adjuster on the spot to help settle the loss for free. We then ordered the material, had it delivered to her house and roofed it the following day. Most people would love the prompt service. Upon completion, we were informed that her banker would come out and inspect her roof before releasing the insurance proceeds to pay us for the job. We passed his inspection and were ready to settle up when all of the sudden Mrs. ---- became hard to find and unavailible to come to the door. After no less than 10 trips and I don't know how many messages left on her voice mail, I contacted her banker to find out if there was some hold up in funding her account so we could get paid. Her banker told me that he funded her the day that he inspected the house. After three weeks of not being paid one penny, I finally was able to speak to Mrs. ----. She invited me into her home and sat down to discuss the fact that she didn't have the money for the repairs. She unfortunatly spent it on her son's bail money among other things. I agreed to accept a multitude of checks as an installment plan. EVERY CHECK SHE GAVE ME BOUNCED!!! Today is may 1st,2007 I have yet collected in full. She mentioned that she had other uses for the money. Poor Mrs. ----- has had to refill her 18 perscriptions. NEED I SAY MORE!!! I hope she and her husband, a Gainsville High School Coach, Gary, learn that writing bad checks for work performed and lying about everything under the sun to cover is not any way to conduct business in general life. Sorry about being a little upset over 4,600.00 in bad checks.
