Royal Camera will not sell or ship to uk unless you buy 3 overpriced accessories Ripoff Internet
I found what appeared to be a very reasonably priced camera, which I ordered on-line. I then received an e-mail from Royal Camera asking me to TELEPHONE from them to confirm the order. I did this and the salesman then told me i needed a $400 memeory card or else the camera won't work. Which I refused to believe and told him that when i tested one in a shop it worked fine on my memory card. I was then offered lenses, I informed him I have all the lenses i require, he then went on to batteries, I told him that the one that came with it would be just fine. I was then informed that
"the manger wouldn't allow him to sell a camera to an international buyer without them purchasing a minimum of 3 accessories."
Surely this is illegal!!!!
However if I was a US purchaser, and the goods were to be sent to a US address it would be okay.
I then asked to speak to the manager, I was put on hold. After a couple of minutes the guy came back and informed me that i would have to wait approximatley 26 minute to speak with the manager. At this point I asked the salesman to cancel my order.

Another New York 'Scamera' Shop

As I mentioned in earlier posts, if the shop is located in New York or New Jersey simply avoid them. Royal is located in Brooklyn. If they advertise in photography magazines, avoid them also. There are several well known web sites that offer solid deals on cameras (with USA warranties) as well as accessories (name brands you actually recognize).
