Savannah Suites Apartments, Tony Rickard, Joyce Rickard ripoff mislead group of workers on rental agreement Omaha Nebraska
I work out of town on short term projects so I found an apartment to rent at Savannah Suites. The manager there Mr. Tony Rickard did tell me about a 30 day notice policy which was written in the copy of the lease and states that the tennant is responsible for the rent 30 days from the date notified, however it was made perfectly clear to me and 7 other of my co-workers who had also rented there that due to the nature of our job a 30 day notice would be impossible to predict and that the 30 day notice would be waived and that any partial month's rent would be pro-rated. so we would leave him with as much notice in advance as possible.
We got notice to leave on 10-29-06. We let the manager know on the same day. The assistant manager told us that we would be getting a check in the mail for any refunded rent and told us "Just make sure the counter-tops are wiped down and you'll get you deposit back." On 10-31-06 I spent 5 hours cleaning that apartment and left.
I left the apartment in better condition than what I received it in. 2 weeks later I receive a bill in the mail from Savannah Suites stating I owe $537.00 for inadequate notice and faliure to clean apartment. I paid one final months rent on 10-20-06 which would have carried me over until 11-20-06. Thats 20 days rent = $530.00+ Deposit = $300.00 I feel I should be reimbursed.
It,s important to remember that this did not happen to just myself but everyone of us had complaints about the managment.
