Come on David... MAKE UP YOUR MIND! Either be an attorney OR the Speaker. Trying to do both has put you in an obvious position of conflict. Did the question of ethics not ever cross your mind?

Do you not realize that LOTS of people are scatching their heads when they see you going into court rooms across South Carolina to plead your cases... often before a judge that you may very well have had a hand in appointing to the bench?

What's wrong with this picture?

The good people of South Carolina deserve better David, so please consider the problems that are created by your *Double Life*...

Anytime I've ever brought this subject up for discussion I've always gotten the response, "Everybody has the right to work for a living". Well, no one ever said you didn't have that right! Anyway, I would imagine you probably earn a nice check for the great job you do as Speaker... and then add a lawyers' high pay to that and somebody's doing pretty good!

Case in Point: You represented a man in a divorce proceeding a few years ago, but because of your conflicting schedule and obligations in Columbia as Speaker... you kept having to file for Continuance after Continuance. You just couldn't be in two places at the same time.

Well, due to the many continuances this case was dragged out forever... this particular divorce case turned into a nightmare for the wife and small child (both mother and daughter had already been physically and sexually abused by your client). As a result, a simple divorce that should have lasted no more than a year was ultimately dragged out to be a 3 year nightmare and actually put a dangerous sociopathic criminal on a violent roll. Talk about empowerment! Your client felt so good after you got him off the hook for physical cruelty that he went on to "Do it some more"... and ultimately sexually abused the little girl.

Now David, no one blames you for that tragedy... but lots of people in the upstate have asked, "Would things been easier for everyone, especially the little girl, had David Wilkins not been involved?"

Sure david, you're a great attorney and a great Speaker... But should you really try to do both these jobs at the same time?
