Scanport aka GEM Yet rebate ripoff Industry California
Another Rebate Victim Screwed by Scanport .....
Same story and same players as the other victims who reported the Scamport... er, Scanport... rat b*tards to RipoffReport.com.
Bought a monitor because of promised $60 rebate. Dutifully filled out forms, waited for prescribed amount of processing time, then called about missing rebate. Scanport's rebate processor, TCA Rebate Fulfillment, asked me to resubmit papers, which I did. I waited another 6-8 weeks, called again, and was told that too much time had elapsed for TCA to process the rebate, so I'd have to deal with Scanport directly. Grr.
Called Scanport, spoke to the infamous Annette (who I see stiffed other RipoffReport.com complainers). Got the same runaround about needing TCA do do something for her. After 3 broken promises to return calls over a span of a month, I asked Annette to refer me to her manager... one Adam Brown. Adam never picks up his phone nor returns his voicemail (probably doesn't even check since it's probably full of complaints like mine).
At this point, I've written off my $60. I'll never do business with Scamport/Scanport again, and would advise everyone else to stay clear of them too.

Here's a quote from the BBB web site: "We rate this company as having an unsatisfactory business performance record based on a pattern of complaints that cause us concern. Most complainants allege the company fails to pay on factory rebate offers which are distributed via sales promotions on monitors or other components at Frye's Electronics stores." Web searching for Scanport problems shows they also have a reputation for failing to live up to their warranty promises.
The Scamport crooks have played this card enough times that they've established a reputation as the con artists that they are. Too bad the BBB is not empowered to put these crooks out of business. You know that saying about, "Friends don't let friends drink and drive"? Friends should also not let friends do business with Scanport.
