Background: Christmas 2017 I found scentmatchers.com. It is a company that duplicates perfume scents that have been discontinued. I bought a bottle for my wife for Christmas and she loved it and said it smelled identical to the original (Dianoche Day).
Fast-forward to Christmas 2018: I ordered another bottle (for 2018 Christmas present). Again, as expected, the perfume smelled like the previous bottle (like it was supposed to). Fast-forward to now. I received an email from scentmatchers.com that it's going out of business and we should buy now while they have stock.
That being, I ordered 2 bottles of the same Dianoche Day I've received the last 2 years. When they arrived, we smelled them and they were NOTHING like the previous 2 we'd purchased. They weren't even remotely close...like an entirely different recipe was used.
I reached out to scentmatchers.com and asked for replacements (the CORRECT ones), or if they didn't have anymore since they were going out of business, a refund. They responded via email that no refunds could be issued because for sanitary reasons they can not "re-use" our custom fragrance (and some other mumbo-jumbo).
That being, I'm requested to dispute the charge because I did not get what I purchased. I have had a 2-year history of getting the correct perfume, so I should have no reason to doubt that the same would have come this year in these 2 bottles.
The fact that it is not the same perfume as I'd received the last 2 years should be enough to warrant a refund I would hope. I've since posted warnings to their Facebook page and will be posting reviews about this incident to everywhere else I can think of.
I also have copies of the emails between us, if you need them. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
