We are now 8 months past our closing date and the items that they had left to complete in 21 days (guaranteed) still have not been done....8 MONTHS LATER. Now our driveway is crumbling, come to find out, they didn't put any rebar in it and they will not fix it. One of the contractors cut completely through the a/c drip line and water was leaking into our walls, which made the bathroom and bedroom walls have to be completely gutted and then took over 2 months to fix (it would have never gotten fixed had we not called repeatedly) and the bottom of my daughter's bathroom cabinet was completely covered in black mold. The conroe office does not respond, corporate, Felicia Carrino and Rick Sanner, do not respond. They don't care. It's not their house. And our cabinetes are still not fixed correctly. They keep delivering the wrong color of kitchen cabinets that have to be replaced because their worked drilled completely through the outside when he was installing the shelves. the list goes on and on....

Larry from Clemmons, NC. We too are considering using Schumacher to build our home. Did you end up choosing them? If so, how has your experience gone so far? Any advice would be appreciated.

Joe: did you end up building with these guys? Anyone else have updates on this contractor/company? Are these problems only occurring in Ohio?

OH, that was just for gravel? For $4200 I thought you were complaining about the cost of cement. I understand now. That is very expensive for gravel. Their prices are so enticing! We've looked at custom builders and they're all way over $150 per sq-ft. About double of where Schumacher starts. Even if we upgrade every possible feature they're still less expensive. The $800 is all that the gravel cost to fill the driveway in, and, yes $4,200 is ridiculous for one load of gravel. The dealings with Schumacher Homes did not get any better. In fact, it took 7 1/2 months to finish our home that had a guaranteed move-in of 5 months. Sure, we got the $1,000 for the delay (it's capped at $1,000), but that hardly covers 3 months of bills at a second residence. It took 12 1/2 months until the rough grading and unfinished painting were completed. In fact, I had an employee from corporate headquarters call to verify that the work was done in the summer of 2004! When I returned her call, she "couldn't find our account" because our name was spelled wrong. Along the way, the communication remained terrible. The wrong bathtub was delivered. When I called to question (a few days later when I could get a hold of someone), the staff asked me if it was already installed. Schumacher also pushed for draws early. For instance, they requested the draw for finished trim when cabinets weren't installed, no trim was finished, etc. Again, I was asked what was actually completed. Not my job when I hire someone to build a home.

I don't see how someone can complain about $4200 drivway that is 250ft. long. Unless you meant 250 sq-ft. I think $4200 is a good price. Please explain better.
