I too had Schumacher Homes Baton Rouge office build my home. Problems from beginning and now have major problems. Actions you can take:
#1 - Please don't sign Warranty in the fancy Warranty Book. More Arbitrator problems.
#2 - Fill a complaint with State Licensing Board for Contractors, 2525 Quail Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70808.
#3 - Fill a complaint with the Bettert Business Bureau. This will require a little bit of work on your part and gets the attention of the builder.
#4 - Use the power of the internet. Put out the word. Post complaints and reviews any place you can.

After reading this one sided unsubstantiated complaint I asked the Local office for a List of Satisfied Customers which I was gladly given (two of which actually flew to Canton personally to view the operation's. I must say that the price quote break down of what materials and cost they present is quite Impressive, and Brilliant on their part. You are also given a password so that customers as myself can view your options ie: plumbing, lighting, cabinets etc etc. They can tell how many times you log onto and times of the day even that you log on. Everyone I have spoken to that has built with the company has had a fine experience, one Homeowner even has his own testimonial and website. I have to take Issue with the ramping up the cost Comment when we compared with other builders they were around the same or 10-15 dollars less per square ft. Builders do have to make a profit thats what Builders are in Business for. This is an Arbitration state after all to protect builders from frivolous lawsuits,They have to be given the opportunity to fix an Issue with construction. I talked to homeowners that have been in their homes for a year now,and they too we satisfied.I know pretty much all builders use finger joint studs as well which we saw in Stonebridge and various other neighboorhoods we considered. The company uses the customers bank in most cases, and anyone that knows about construction draws knows their bank has to Inspect the home before future draws are released so I would question that comment as well. All I can say is always take what you read on an Internet Blog with a grain of salt. You can google Wal-Mart,or any other National Builder and see One sided complaints all day long. Good Luck and really the only Home you should worry about ...is yours.
