Two years ago I was injured while working. Had I not been threatened with my job and forced to work in the conditions at the current time and had been allowed to park for 15 to 20 minutes while waiting for the conditions to pass everything would have been fine. However, after numerous doctors visits, P.T. sessions, one surgery and 6 IME's I continue to live in pain with my life on hold. Not to mention my wife and children's life. I lay and watch everyday my life pass before me all because Schwans is too lame to provide me with the necessary surgery I need to get me to where I can function again. They want me to continue to live like this when they know d**n well know what I surgically need. It's a simple procedure but will most likely allow me to have some type of a life.
Every Doctor/surgeon I have been to says the same thing yet Schwans, SRS insurance and their attorneys refuse to allow what I am entitled to. I loved my job, I loved working for Schwans and for years all I did is preach to people about how great of a company Schwans is. Well, that's B.S. They give two cents about me or any other employee. Employees they say are, "a dime a dozen" yet all I ever heard is how it's so hard to find employees and how hard it is to keep them. And this is the way they treat their employees?
You know, for years while on my route I kept running into former employees who complained about Schwans and how they treat you. I blew it off as simply a disgruntled ex-employee but boy, has my views on Schwans changed. These people I spoke with and listened to are pretty much correct.
So, I sure hope anyone considering them for a job or career simply reconsider the facts. 90% of what you'll read here on Rip-Off Report is absolutely true! Less than 25% (approx.) of new employees
remain after 90 days and half of those are gone within 120 days.
If you have a family, forget it. Say good bye to them because you might see them when you return home at 11 or 12 pm and maybe on a Sat or Sun if you are not forced to work.
Beware of what the hiring manager tells you. I can't stress this enough because typically, if their mouth is moving they are lying.

Sounds like my story at Schwans. I had only 6hrs a sleep this week alone try building with your own car that means Schwans can keep you out longer without the DOT on their back one more thing the Manger can edit your hours so watch it Ive been pulling 19hr days now.. And your right I took a job with less pay to get out I quit today.. I dont want to even get started talking about the s**t they make you do like working out in 120 degrees and passing out at a TLS and then telling your manger you need a doctor only for him to yell at you to stay out longer

Hello all. as i get home at 1130 now i typed in schwans rip offs just to see whats pops up. and this is was what popped up hahah. anyhow i feel all your pain. as im still working for this company because jobs are hard to get.
About me:
Im a 30 year old man with three little girls. ive worked sence i was 13 years old on a farm, i moved from that and started working for a pallet factory (aka skids). i worked there for about 5 years and went to a metal mabrication place for 60 days thinking i wasnt going to be one of the 30 layed off. i went back to the pallet factory because i was a worker and i gave everything 110%. the pallet factory didnt pay enough so i moved on to a delivery job for a local place. i worked hard and had a overnight away from home 1 day a week i worked there for 5 1/2 years and moved on to pepsi for delivering. i lasted there a year and got fired for the first time in my life. managment changed and the 20 year old manager didnt think i had what it took hahaha. i would have to say for mangment was the worst ever ive seen anywhere ive went or herd of hands down! they dont belive in file cabinets at all and when there papers get lost its the workers fault. anyhow when i got fired from pepsi i applyed to about 40 other trucking companies and delivery jobs. i had a ton of experiance in this area and was really good with people. Ok now for the goooood parts about Schwans!
Schwans called me and said they might have a job for me if i pass all the 50000 tests they have. i was all for it. hey all there trucks LOOKED like new and they were always well dressed. so i gave it a shot. i got called from a manager asking me info on what im looking for a job and he told me info. about a 30 min phone call or less. he told me if he was interested he would call me back for a personal interview. i was like ok. well as one week went by i called and called and he was never there. finally after 1 month went by he called me and gave me a date witch was another 2 weeks away. i went in and he asked me questions and i asked him questions. the place was very nice and well kept. i told him i got the job and he looked at me and said he didnt make his mind up yet. i told him off the batt i know i have it because i have all the experiance needed for such a job and ive been doing it for almost 7 years now. he laughed in a good way. finally D-DAY haha. i went for my pee test and past of corse. i got the job. so i drove on many routes with people and got to learn what they did. the hours sucked bad but i needed a job. as time went on a guy quit and i was the only one that could take over the route. and also was told that there not going to be my routes because there still switching things around. i was bummed and was busting my butt for nothing. i built them routes up a little but not much. i only had them for 2 months and had all the directions down in new route book and GEO coded (gps unit). i did what was asked and even more. then came time for the change. another guy got the routes and i was back to nothing. i had 2 route days that wasnt in no ones routes yet. you know the ones no one wants because the crime and 90% of it has been worked over already and no one wanted schwans in there doors. so for some reason my manager expected me to pick these 2 days up to 2000$ days each to split them to make 4 days. i tryed sooooo hard to!!!! it is a dead beet town with lots of crime and the only time it was good is when welfair came out (Access). then came time for another guy to quit. he had a really nice route that i really really wanted! it was close to my home and i knew the area. did i get it you ask???? NOOOOOOO! the new guy that just started got them. so ok fine hit me two times im still going to keep my head high. as a man i can take alot of bs and not get to bent over it. so over all i have 2 route days and 6 build days. a build day is where you go out to find new customers. the worst job ever known to man! your expected to get at least 5 and thats ok from what the boss says. about a month goes by and i find myself getting 1 or 2 new customers a day every once in a while. the boss expects me to run into an area i have no clue where im at and bring 40 new customers out a week HAHAHAHA. yea in his dreams. this guy promised me to ride along with me so many times its not funny. hes never been with me nor i dought he will. anyhow he pulled me into his office and told me pretty much im usless to the company and if i dont pick up 20 new customers a week then i will be fired. then he goes on saying that ive been given many chances at routes and i did nothing with them. also he kept on tossing up in my face on how well schwans is paying me. 32,000$ a year ohhhh wow watch out ill be able to but a hummer or a porche and even have a maid! and more bs lies on and on and on. i just sat there and didnt know what to say. i just told him fine and ill try better.
all i know is when some one goes on vacation and i do there route i do as good as them and most of the time i run better numbers. so for this manager to say im worthless is really retarded on his part. he works about 5 hours a day or less making 4 times more then me and hes putting me down. he also told me working from 8am to 9pm is out of the question! thats not enough hours at allll by his opinion.
sorry i know its not short but when i get started about this job i get extremely pissed. and to all that think this is a good job you know nothing at all on what life is. you will never know what it is like to come home at 3-5 Oclock and enjoy your wife and kids. also out of the few jobs ive had in my life this is the worst by far. even the pallet factory was better. yes making 300$ a week and taking home 200 of it and still its a better job. the pallet factory job i had was a real mans job. no heat in the wonter and really rough conditions every where you turn. but still a better job. there is more to the story but its late and this is a saturday well sunday now that im working on. so good night to all and hope you live your life better then schwans can offerb :P
