Citi under Sears Mastercard is extremely dishonest.
On December 2012 I received a notice from Sears Gold Mastercard CITI that my account was being closed for inactivity. No balance existed.
On or about February 2013 Skype posted a bill of $25 to the card. The account should not have posted any bill because this account was close. Skype was autobilling.
No bills were expected from Sears/CITI
on April 13, 2013 I was sent a letter from G. Stevens vice President Citibank to collect $78. 50. Th arrived on April 22, 2013 and I opened the bill and immedately sent a phone call to 1-800-733-1116 to call regards this issue. I was very shocked to find a bill had posted. None the less I paid the full bill as in the letter and told the staff agent there that I had no desire whatsoever to see any more bills or business with CITI. I demanded the account be closed and posted the payment in full via phone in check at got confirmation #2012048204645071. Citi admits record of receiving that payment.
Now on June 29, 2013 I recieved a phone call from Citi regards this account claiming that there were remaining late fees at the time I paid off and I owed more money. I called to try to clear this up and they insist that I still owe money even though my account was closed on April 22, 2013. My account was closed zero balance confirmed at the time in April.
Citi bank will not even honor Online account access as it was closed I checked in April. I got no statements regardless of media. Now after 3 months I owe late fees on late fees on a closed account.
Sears CITI is exceedingly dishonest. I just told their representative that I cannot trust them to even be able to pay off this fraudulent claim as they didn't properly credit me at the time.
This is a racket organization that you cannot close an account and pay it off and then have it actually go away. This is exceedingly dishonest and nobody should do business with CITI or with SEARS.
