Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I own 6 rental properties in and around Greece (Rochester) NY.  I needed to replace a kitchen range in one of them and in the past found that 1 above the bottom of the kine would do.  I was inn a hurry (can't leave a tenantwith a non working stove) so I went to Sears and bought one July 17 2012.  It was delivered the following Saturday.

Last friday (8/30/13)  my Tenant had a sump pump problem, and while fixong this she mentioned that for several days she had been lighting the range with matches.  I checked and found  that none of the igniters worked.

I went to Sears the next day to report the problem, and while the clerk was plesant, he told me there was nothinghe could do since it was over a year since purchase.  He gave me a phone number for service.

SO I called and spoke with a number of drones who did not speak English as their primary language (I didn't think to ask what country tey were in) -- I went 3 levels up (Or maybe just talked to diffrent people) andthe answer was the same. 1 year and that's it!

Next dayI called my local store and spoke with the appliance manager -- he offered a $50 credit toward a service call, but I would have to pay for parts (He couldn't say how much, and past experience tells me it would probably be cheaper to buy a new stove).  The store manager was to call me today, but as of this writing (almost 6PM) nothing.

I also wrote to customer "Service?" at Sears.com and was offered a 10% credit on a new appliance  (Like I want another Sears appliance)

My tenant has beenGreat  and I have no reason to suspect she abused the stove.  (The sump pump was old and just wore out) -- I have read that the life expectancy of a range is about 10  years. I do not believe a 2 week  extension of the warrentee is asking too much

SO given the attitudeof Sears, I cannot reccommend them, and will no longer consider them for any future purchases.

Consider the likleyhood of my needing several new appliances over the  next few years, I believe Sears shot themselves in the foot.
