When we were with RCI, although difficult, we enjoyed equitable exchanges. Now that Shell (SVC) has determined that points owners will be with Interval International, the travel we wanted to have is completely unavailable.

There is less to choose from in the southeast US and books faster. We wanted to book a trip to the UK in 2 years, but there is nothing in their system to choose from. We asked about the northeast coast of the US and Canada for this summer - again nothing but two resorts away from everything!

We were told that if we converted to points from weeks that we would have greater flexibility in bookings, but that has not been the case. We have friends that are with our home resort that remained with weeks through Shell and have no trouble exchanging because they are still associated with RCI that way.

In terms of having anyone with any authority to deal with, you`re out of luck. The only people you can speak with are the customer service drones who are only trained in providing reservations for exchanges you can`t make and annoy you by asking (after  professionally telling you that there is nothing to exchange for) ``Can I help you with anything else``, although the only function they have, has just proven to be futile.

What a joke!

Allow me to offer a different perspective: Although I am not technically an employee of Shell Vacations, I do, in fact, sell their services through an outlet on Maui as a licensed Real Estate agent. I have been in this game for many years and consider myself a right-handed guy in a left-handed world: I do not deceive to make a living. I don't have to. And I sell the SVC (Shell Vacations Club) product. Whatever they "were", likely considering their affiliation with RCI, they are certainly, currently not.  The current affiliation with Interval International is brilliant - and in my opinion, long overdue. The inventory available for instantly confirmed exchanges with II is actually shocking to me, as both an owner of a quite desirable II property and as an agent. I am daily blown away by the remarkably high-end (Westin, Marriott... even Four Seasons!) inventory readily available with their modification into II points. If I log in as a Westin "weeks" owner, I see some (even perhaps a satisfactory amount of) inventory available. If I log in with SVC points, I see a completely different inventory. We, on the Maui staff, actually have no compunction whatsoever in showing live inventory to our guests on tour with us. It is a HUGE selling point. Believe me: the switch to II is absolutely remarkable. I have little input to share regarding Shell properties. In fact, it has little to do with my daily sales presentation: I sell the exchange! It is BRILLIANT!
If I can offer an insiders advice: Although I have no idea where you are situated - geographically - something is definitely wrong if you are not seeing inventory. By practice, late night - in Hawaii - I see a ridiculous amount of desirable inventory which is commonly decimated by the early hours as the Mainland has already "shopped". BTW: The UK has VERY little inventory anyway, but I just refreshed the page and saw dozens of incredibly discounted weeks at 16 resorts just a few minutes ago. If you are complaining because it isn't perfect, maybe you shouldn't have purchased. But as an "insider"? It is the best thing I have seen!
