Complaint Review: Shooters Wholesale/Gerry Sweet - Meridian Idaho

Instead of reading a description of how fantastic the finish was you should have looked it up. GunKote is an Ok finish but is not 100% scratch proof. Cerakote is the true top of the line firearms finish and anyone who builds firerarms for a living knows this. Why would a company use GunKote instead of Cerakote? Cost. GunKote is cheap. It's around 1/4 the cost of Cerakote. Not that price is always a good way to determine quality but product testing is. In all tests done on several gun finishes cerakote comes out as the best by a very very very large margin. It's not even close. You bought a firearm based on what you read in the sellers description and didin't do any research on what you were buying. Now you want to accuse the seller of lying about what the gun is finished with. I would bet the finish is GunKote and I would based on our own experience with many different finishes know that it will never hold up to the metal on metal friction between the safety lever and the receiver on an AK style weapon. We only use cerakote and what your complaining about is an example of why. Cerakote will withstand this kind of abuse for a long time but it will eventally after several thousand cycles start to fail as well. You don't have to take my word for it, go to youtube and search for Cerakote videos where they show you all the ways they test and what products they test for comparison. You will see for yourself that Gunkote is a weak finish. 

While i own several very expensive and well maintained firearms (legally of course) I spent considerable time with a very busy Gerry Sweet on the phone to have my custom hunting rifle built to my specifications. I am a business owner, actually I own few, and I know how difficult it is to appease needy and anal customers (like myself) and customize and gunsmith in the manner in which this gentleman does.

While I never take the time to right or post online, simply because I am too busy;I actually spend quite a bit of my time doing charitable work. I do have to say my rifle by Gerry is my favorite. There is no comparison. He is also a gentleman and what seems to be a devoted family man. (I know he works with his family and has raised some fine boys from what I learned).

I actually did some research on him and his company because I was so impressed by the work and the time he took to help me.

I feel badly that you have had a faulty or bad experience, or you could be exaggerating which I would say is more Likely the case. The man I spoke to 8-10 times is a true gentleman and patriot. In my opinion they make em like him very often. (that's a compliment).

I can't imagine he would not make an attempt to remedy your issue. I can't comment on your character (rip off post author) but I can comment on Gerry's. And if you were to check my references which would include drug treatment programs I donate to, clergy, politicians or citizens in my community's can assure you my character references would be flattering. I don't like to say that or boast ever as humility is the most admirable of virtues - and that happens to be another of the virtues Gerry possesses.

I'm sorry you had a defective issue (or some people do complain often or when dissatisfied) but I know he has sold thousands and thousands of his craft and I have never heard anything negative except this.

I personally thank Gerry for his time and the best and most treasured rifle I own.
