They call themselves "Sierra Industries". They sell vaccuum cleaners/air filtration systems. Their alias is Easter Ent. Inc.

My wife saw an Ad in the paper promising $15.00 per hour, regardless of whether you sell anything. For 2 weeks, my Wife slaved for these people- driving far distances to put on these demonstrations/shows for people, trying to sell them these vaccuum cleaners/air filtration products called the "Majestic 360" and the "Defender 360".

She was also required to go door to door, doing surveys for these people, gathering potential customers for them.

Nearly every day, she had to drive an hour way, to Maumee, Ohio, to attend their "meetings".

After 2 weeks of this, pay day came. My wife went to the meeting, meeting there with the rest of the new group of employees, as usual. Only to discover that "nobody was getting paid". They said that the reason for this was that "nobody did 30 demonstrations within the allotted time". When, in fact, all that they were told they needed to do was 10 demonstrations.

Conveniently, the guy who told everyone the number was 10 was nowhere to be found. Apparantly, the contract which everyone had signed (yet not allowed to read) said 30. Of course, they failed to mention that fact to anyone until pay day came.

My wife worked a total of over 60 hours for these people within the 2 weeks she worked for them. $15. x 60 = $900. Plus, she was promised a $400. gas allowance. Plus, she was promised a $300. commission for each system she sold. She sold 1. That's $1,600.00 she got scammed for.

The sale price of this system is $2,599.00 The finance price of this system is $3,911.94 The price you can get this system for on ebay? Under $300.00!

Now, my wife decided that she would simply keep the system, either until they paid her what they owed her, or else keep it as compensation. Well, the other day, she received a phone call from one of those scammers, who calls himself "Prince". He threatened that a Warrant would be issued for her arrest for "Theft" if she did not return the demo system in her possession by Monday,

March 5, 2007, at 8:00 A.M. My wife then proceeded to call our local police, and asked whether that could happen. The first thing they said to her as she began to tell them what they had done was, "Let me guess- vaccuum cleaners?" Apparantly, they were already well aware of this scam. Yet, they informed her that unless she returned the system to them, a Warrant for Theft would, indeed, be issued.

Now, my Question is- is this not a Civil Matter? How can the police/courts side with these Scam artists? If anyone should be charged with "Theft", should it not be Sierra Industries?

Anyway, we have no recourse left but to report them to the Better Business Bureau (yeah, like that's going to accomplish anything), or to take our chances with trying to sue them in court. But, that's a long shot, being that the contract everyone was made to sign (but not to read) covers those scammers legally.

So, beware! If you encounter this ad or these people- remember what I've stated here. This is a SCAM!

When you were hired and promised everything stated in your complaint.... did you sign documentation for your hourly wage? Were you hired as a contractor of hourly employee? I'm not at all trying to mean, but if I was promised something from a new employer I would expect to sign paperwork and I would definitely understand what I was signing. In my opinion I wouldn't hold this company responsible for something if you personally signed a document without reading it. This seems like a case of personal negligence. Why would you sign your name to a document/contract that you didn't fully read or understand? Did someone hold a gun to you head? Were you unwillingly forced to sign you name to forms or documents? Sales is a tough business and sales companies are almost always commissioned pay. Most in home sales people only get paid for how they perfom/reaching goals or by selling a product.

This is a quick response to the idea that Sierra Industries would soon be or will ever shut down simply because Channel 7 reported about a situation with one of our company's customers. The tv report was in response to an older gentleman's request for more insight into a flyer he received for a promotion our company was sponsoring. The news lady (better suited for Gossip Girls than honest reporting)took this request for more information and ran with a story basically eluding to the fact that we were not legitimate and the promotion was not real. The promotion, in fact, was so real that we had customers who participated actually call the station and correct them. WOW...In this day and age where we are all so bust, we had over a dozen customers call the station and then call us to tell us what they had done. These customer were mostly people who didn't buy anything at all from us and received their gift card just for their time - as the promotion stated... The news company quickly dropped and ran from the story without ever really retracting it or apologizing. We have been operating here with no noise or problems since. I find it ironic to say the least that the first article written here is about not having leads for our associates and the whole situation with the news channel was around one of our lead generation programs that we were sponsoring. Take the time to get the facts right and you will see why our organization as a whole has been in business and thriving in all economies for over 80 years. Thank you for the time...

#4UPDATE EX-employee responds

It looks like the reputation of Sierra Industries and the latest fly by night Filter Queen distribtorship is comming to an end. As a former salesperson in Seattle, this is typical and I'm glad to see them being reported on the 5 o'clock news. As always the equipment is marked up very high. If you like the product, you can get a good deal on them on E-Bay. If you work for this company as a salesperson, you can make better money working fast food. If your an employee for the company and you know that this dishonesty is going on, I'm sure it will be only a matter of time before your own paycheck starts bouncing. This is typical of Filter Queen dealers nationwide. Be looking for my Filter Queen documentary video on You Tube in May 2008 that covers everything that goes on with distributorships.
