In Siruis Satellite Radio inception they offered a $500 one time fee for lifetime subscription as a promotional offer.  I signed up as I was spending a lot of time in my vehicle.

After my first device broke I replaced it with a newer model. Not long after this, it too broke as the connectors at the the back of the device were very flimsy. I then purchased a third device but was still happy with the offer as I enjoyed the radio.

When the 3rd device broke, I was a little disappointed as it had not been more than a year. This time I was not that eager to replace it since the replacement cost was now starting to add up. However when we decided to move back to NY from LA and wanted to drive our dogs coast to coast instead of subjecting them to the flight, they are two large Rhodesians, I decided that the 8 day trip we planned would warrant a new device. After we purchased a new device at a Walmart on the way I called Sirius to connect my new device. All of a sudden they now wanted to impose a $75 reconnection fee to get me back on, eventhough they had never done so before, they stated that they did not require to inform me of these changes. What was I to do, I already had the new device and 7 days of road ahead of me so I accepted this gouging fee. One day after I arrived in NY, my device again gave up the ghost. This time I was pissed and even though Walmart was willing to replace the device, friggin Sirius insisted that they would again charge me the $75 reconnection fee. At the moment I am
so disillusioned with Sirius that I refuse to use their service even though I have a lifetime membership to them. Consumers be aware of the shitty quality of their devices that are built to break and their hidden reconnection fees involved that will make you think twice about their subscription.

To add insult to injury, when they bought XM Satellite, instead of combining their channels they kept them separate and want to charge extra for it. Shisters
