Sleepys Trexlertown was outrageously awful to my elderly in-laws. After selling them a $1,200 mattress, the store refused to assist them when problems arose within minutes of delivery.

The King Koil mattress had an awful smell that permeated the house within minutes of delivery. The odor was so overwhelming that it caused a respiratory problem for my elderly mother-in-law that required medical intervention. When my in-laws contacted Sleepys, they were told that the smell was normal and would dissipate within a few days. They were told to air the mattress for a few days to a week. They moved the product to an enclosed porch.

Meanwhile, they had nothing on which to sleep because they paid Sleepys to haul their old bedding away. They had to buy an inflatable mattress on which to sleep while waiting for their paid-in full product to lose its stench. They waited and waited and ...you guessed it...the mattress never lost the incredible stench which now made life unbearable.

Sleepy's customer service people were rude, condescending and completely uninterested in their plight. They were offered a new mattress - if they paid for a new mattress. Forget the $1,200 investment in the unusable product Sleepy's sold them. To add insult to injury, the Sleepy's representative told them they would have to pay to have the offensive mattress removed as well as pay for delivery for another!

The smell now filled the house, the garage, even the air surrounding the home. You could smell it before you rang their doorbell! And Sleepy's insisted that this was normal, almost a month after delivery.

Life was unbearable because of this odor. The local Chamber of Commerce stated that Sleepy's Trexlertown was a well known problem location. They recommended contacting the Better Business Bureau. The BBB said that there were so many complaints against Sleepy's that filing one more was a useless action. Sleepy's just didn't give a d**n.

My 75 year-old in-laws finally gave up and purchased another mattress from another retail outlet. Guess what! It was delivered promptly and had no odor! The business even called to ask if the product was satisfactory! Now that is customer service. Sleepy's provides customer disservice and is unworthy of anyone's business.

So avoid Sleepy's Trexlertown like the plague. They really are a plague that should be forced to either develop some ethical business practices or close. I hope that someday these folks get what they deserve - the same disgusting disregard they bestow upon their customers.
