Smart One Energy tricked my spouse into switching our energy provider. You need to watch out for this company. My provider said there was nothing they could do to switch us back, so I had to deal with someone from Smart One Energy. The Smart One Energy Company contact had a thick Indian accent like all customer service these days, especially scams. I looked at my current bill, and I was charged some money by Smart One Energy, but it looks like I am back to my old provider. They should have a way to lock your accounts from companies like this one. There is what I did next.
First I filed a complaint with the National Do Not Call Register since our phone number is on the Do Not Call Register.
Second, I filed a complaint with the Business Consumer Alliance and the Better Business Bureau. Received a message back from the Business Consumer Alliance that Smart One Energy did not return their request for information on the complaint, which is now being escalated. Not sure where yet.
Third, copied the complaints I filed, the gas and electric invoice with the charge, and records of conversations with Smart One Energy telling them to switch me back to my original provider and that I am also on the National Do Not Call Registry.
Fourth, waiting for the class action lawsuits to be filed which I am sure will occur with this company.
Finally, I pleaded with my spouce not to pick up our phone anymore unless she knows the number. I would say about one in ten calls are legit.

I just called PG&E in California and they suggested I file a complaint with the CPUC which I just did.
